Cheapest across the street motel that isn't a dive?

I would recommend the Candy Cane Inn (same distance as HoJo and they have a FREE shuttle to the park!), HoJo (retro rate would be great, but it's been scarce lately), Anaheim Plaza (slightly closer walk, huge rooms, clean with great rates if you book early e enough). There are some that are closer than the CCI/HoJo (it takes our family of 4 7-10 minutes to walk from either one) but they are higher priced. I recommend the CCI due mostly to the free breakfast and the free shuttle, it is higher priced but I feel those 2 amenities make up for the price difference.

We booked the Camelot for one night anyone stay there?

I really liked Camelot, clean rooms, view of DL so you could see fireworks from room.

Have you ever thought of bidding on priceline? I realize these may not be directly accross the street, but you may be able to get a great rate.

If you use priceline to bid on something across the street, it's very hard to get across the street. You are more likely to be a shuttle or even car ride away.

we'll be taking DLE so we HAVE to be within walking distance, and the closer the better since we have a 2 year old who will need a nap.

I need to chime on priceline. I use thier name your own price all the time. I usually travel with my two kids (11 and 4) and me. I have never paid more than $75/night (usually $69) for a 3 1/2 star hotel. All the hotels I've stayed at through them have interior rooms. The shuttle picks us up from infront of our hotel lobby and takes us to inside the pedestrian entrance (saved our feet sooo much).

Here's what you do:
1) enter your check in/out dates and the number of rooms you'll be needing
2) enter the prefered area (Disneyland north-5 and Disneyland south-6)
3) select star rating (I always enter 3 1/2 & 4)
4) enter your bid. I always start with $69 and usually get it. If you don't they'll make you add more to your search parameters; you can't just up your bid. To get around this, I close out the priceline window completley and start all over with the same parameters but up the price by $5 until I get a hit.

In their defense, we have only stayed there one trip, however it was so bad, we vowed NEVER to return. The carpet around the bathroom area was damp and smelled, the sink and tub were dirty, the carpet made our socks black in under an hour (we wore shoes in the room at all times), the front desk was rude, the sheets had holes in them, the walls were paper thin (no kidding, we could hear normal conversations in the next room and the man snored at night!). The area was completely sold out, or we would have moved hotels. Never again.

Oh, if you are looking for cheap and clean, Anaheim Plaza Hotel is good.

on our last visit we passed Anaheim Plaza - wow- looked so much better in person! Might even try it out sometime. Pretty cheap rates- but in any case- always factor in the extras- you say you are flying in so no- car - that cuts out parking fee costs, but if you want a real cheap place- further out you go- factor in the ART shuttle fee. And per adult could add up per day- where you could be right across the street. Don't forget about internet fees and resort fees too. Finding the perfect place is the fun part- stay away from Eden Roc!

I just did the math - 7 people in your next trip- 4 adults? I would recommend Residence Inn- they have 2- You could walk to the parks from Clementine - but you do have 3 kids- the one in Garden Grove is sometimes cheaper. I have stayed at the one in Garden Grove- was really nice- has a full kitchen to prepare meals and free hot breakfast- that does save alot on money!

This is quite in contrast from my stay there.

Clean, carpet looked new, room was big, no problems with noise, front desk was informative and helpful.

I read lots of negative before booking and was pleasantly surprised on arrival. I too was booking last minute and they were all I could find that was close.

The one negative about the Del Sol I found is that parking is very limited and tight.

ive heard good things about desert inn and were it not for the money we needed to save this would have been our choice. This time, yet we now ended up at travel loge on disney drive 99 a night for 2queens nad sofa bed just in case you need it there is also art stop right out side (just shearing it) but if you call desert inn early enough you may get 99 a night on your nights in nov-dec time

We are a family of six and nothing shows up online for us either. Adjust your number to 4 individuals, then if the 2 room suite opens up then call and make the ressies at Anaheim Plaza.

Thanks, there is a convention at that time and I noticed it seems to have plugged up that hotel and Hojo as well.

the super 8 on katella almost always has several discounted rates. 21 day advance purchase... stay 3 save 15%..etc. clean small rooms,free parking, free wi fi free cont. bkfst (not great) next door to garden walk, 15-20 min walk to parks or ART shuttle stops in front of hotel next door. we also stay at ANAHEIM PLAZA and will be again in october. it is very retro (old) but clean and has the best pool on harbor after hojo. rooms have balconies/patios. 10 min walk to the park.

At the Park Vue Inn they have two different 2 room suites. One has 2 queens in the main room, and 1 queen in the seperate bedroom, and has a fridge and microwave. The other has 2 queens in the bedroom and a fold out sleeper sofa in the main room but has a full kitchen. The serve from what I've read is a really good breakfast including waffles eggs bacon or sausage cereals fruit etc. and a light afternoon meal of stuff like taco's mini burgers soup etc. they also have water and fruit and cookies available all day in the lobby. they are right across the street from the main entrance, and the rate we got for july is $163. plus tax. that would be cheaper than 2 seperate rooms at most other places unless you get the discounted hojo rate of 59. but you would save a lot of money on food.

you'll like it remember 4.00 a day for parking wifi is horrible and expensive. there is a food for less on katella about a mile or so from hotel to stock up on sandwich fixins and breakfast stuff. there are a decent amount of fast food and inexpensive buffets in that shopping center and on harbor & chapman easily reachable by car in about the same time it would take to eat in the park on a busy day. if you plan ahead.. subway and a pizza place and a fast food chinese place are on harbor and katella about 20 steps from front of anaheim plaza. have fun

It is on the corner of Harbor and Disney Way. It is about the same distance as Hojos. Maybe a 7-10 min walk.
