Hi, we are planning a trip to WDW for 4 days (combining it with US and Seaworld). We are looking for the most inexpensive deluxe resort that would accomodate 5 people. I understand that at the AKL its the "deluxe" room we would want.

What dexule resorts have "standard" rooms that fit 5 people? Cost is definately a factor.

Port Orleans trundle sounds too small for what we want.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Oops. Original response from a sleepy person. Just woke up. So I am editing.

A standard at a deluxe? I think Contemporary has two beds and a day bed. And maybe Poly?? I am sure all the deluxe room goers will tell you what you could get. :)

However, for the same price, possibly less, you could get two rooms at a value, if a good code comes out two rooms at moderate, or a Fort Wilderness cabin which would sleep 6.

Have a good trip!

A lot will depend upon when you are planning to go. As the deluxe resorts go,S/D and CR are normally lower cost. A garden wing room at CR is a lower cost option. You may find it to be less expensive to stay offsite and have day visits to the WDW parks.

If you're set on staying at Disney World, I think your best deluxe option would be a contemporary garden wing room.

Another option might be the cabins at Fort Wildnerness. Those are generally relatively inexpensive, and you get a full kitchen, which could save you even more money.

If having a Disney Resort isn't of utmost importance, you could still be on property at the Doubletree Guest suites. True, it's not Disney owned, but there is free transportation to the parks, and you're really close to Downtown Disney.

Or, stay completely offsite, and get much more bang for your buck.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a fantastic trip! :)

It also depends when you are going : value season etc. Our family of 5 has stayed at contemporary, AKL, Yacht Club, Beach Club and our favorite is the Polynesian. Lately though we have gone to the swan with a govt. discount and extra rollaway charge. At the disney resorts I ask for the cheapest room - standard, wing, gardenview etc. All we use the room is to sleep in and you can take advantage of all your resort has to offer no matter what room you are sleeping in. Look for any discounts that apply to you etc.

Using rack rates for value season (July 5 - September 29) Fort Wilderness Cabins, which sleep 6, is $229 per night. At the Contemporary a GardenWing Standard View (these are the buildings next to the tower ) is $239 per night. The rooms at the Comtemporary have two queens and a twin sized day bed. This is the most expensive and AAA could bring these down 15% during Value season. If you plan to travel during another time period, which isn't value season, the room rates are approx $35 more per night for regular season.

We to are a family of five and have this dilema each time we go to WDW. Your least expensive option is to stay at POR in the Bayou section. They have rooms that will accomodate five with a trundle bed. The rate is $15 more than the the room rate for the fifth person. We are now too cramped in these rooms with the ages of our kids. In terms of deluxes the cheapest room is at CR in a wing room. All other deluxe resorts will cost significantly more including AKL and WL because at these two resorts you must get a deluxe room because their usual rooms accomodate four only. Now here is what we did. We booked two rooms at CSR. It is only costing us four dollars a night more to have two rooms here than one wing room at the CR. This way we have four beds, two TV's and two bathrooms. We could have saved more by staying a a value resort but we don't care for those. They do guarantee connecting rooms for families and it states so on my reservation form. Before we got a post card for great rates in June I was looking at staying off site for this particular reason and had narrowed my choices to the following which you may want to look into: DoubleTree in DTD and Spring Hill Suites in the Marriott Village at Lake Bryan. Both are suites and include breakfast. There are good rates for DoubleTree on Mousesavers.com and the Spring Hill Suites start at around $85 per night and it is a pretty new complex. The web site is www.marriottvillage.com if you are interested. Good luck deciding. princess: pirate:

The deluxes, with the exception of WL and AKL, have two queen beds and a twin size day be. Usually they would go for around $300 a night. Now, that's without a discount. The AllStars, with 2 double beds, would run you no more than $120 a night. I would opt for 2 rooms at the AllStars, you get 4 beds, 2 bathrooms, great theming. I think the WL and AKL have either 2 queens or a queen and bunks. The Contemporary would get my vote for a deluxe. Quick walk to MK, monorail right there. Good food there on-site. Or the 2 rooms at a value. Don't forget, if you do go the 2 rooms route, ask for connecting rooms. THat way you will have a door between the two rooms.

Wow, all your responses were very informative. Here's what I've found out so far:

CR Garden view and Swan/Dolphin sold out for my dates(10/30-11/4)
AKL too expensive
WL Cabins - not to our liking
PO - trundle bed too small for my preteens/teenagers

What I might consider is 2 rooms at one of the moderates. This is a great idea. We currently have a reservation using the entertainment rate at HIFS for $89.00 a night including breakfast (hard to beat), but would love to stay on property again.

Thanks again for all your valuable information!!!

Fort Wilderness Homes might work for you.

There are basically three "tiers" of room pricing in WDW deluxe resorts.

The lowest are AKL and WL
Next would be BWI, YC, BC, CR
The most expensive are GF and Polynesian

With various discounts sometimes you can find a standard room at a middle tier resort for the same price as a deluxe room in a lower tiered resort.

Keep in mind that the daybeds at the YC and BWI are not full sized. They are full sized at the Polynesian, AKL and BC. I can't recall the size at the GF, and haven't stayed at teh WL or CR.
