Cheaper to buy wine at port or onboard?

we are heading on the Fantasy very soon for the 7 day western Caribbean. It's been several years since our last Disney Cruise. I understand the alcohol policy has changed. Each person can bring aboard 2 bottles of wine initially. However, at port can we each purchase 2 additional bottles and bring them into the room? How expensive is bottled wine onboard for purchase?

Like any place you buy wine, it can vary in price depending on the quality of the wine. I've found the prices onboard to be comparable to buying a bottle at a restaurant on land. There is a markup. But if you want to bring a bottle of your own wine to dinner, there is a corkage fee. I believe the corkage fee is currently $25. If you like very high end wine, then it's probably less expensive to bring your own bottle and pay the corkage fee. Otherwise, it might be easier and about the same amount of money to just purchase a bottle or buy the wine package.

I was not aware you were able to bring wine purchased in ports to your room. I was under the impression they stored it and you pick it up at the alcohol pick up location at disembarking. I do know that upon embarking you are allowed 2 bottles of wine or beer, thought port stops different.

Unlike other cruise lines, DCL lets you bring onboard the wine/beer allowance upon embarkation, as well as from ports of call. Those allowances are 2 bottles of wine or champagne (max 750 ml), OR 6 beers (max 12 oz) per person aged 21 and over.

If you purchase hard alcohol, DCL will hold it to be picked up at the end of the cruise.
