Can someone come up with some inexpensive souvenier ideas for my 14 year old niece to take home for her 5 sisters? Something either from the ship or from Castaway Cay?

They have several items in the shop onboard of various prices. We like getting small 'models' of the ship or magnets.

Another idea is to have her mail a postcard from CC. Keep in mind that it will take a very long time to reach home though since it is not part of the USA.

Something that we took home for my kids friends was the lotions and shampoos from the room (they had Disney Characters on them, although last time we went they didn't have these, but I have since heard they are back---but I am not sure).

They had thermal mugs for about $3.00 per on the ship. Bulky, but inexpensive. You could also bring them some of the trading cards they give away free on the ship. Postcards are also a nice and inexpensive gift.

If you use your own shampoo, conditioner, soap you can bring home your daily supply of the Minnie Mouse brands they stock your bathroom with - for FREE!

I read on another thread that if you ask Room Service for a cork screw for you wine, they bring you a DCL one and it is to keep, for free! Neat souveneir if you know someone that likes wine...

We were tickled today. Our postcard that we mailed from Castaway Cay arrived in the mail today (9-8-03), we just mailed it from CC on 8-29-03, just a little over a week. It was nice reading my note about my glasses being at the bottom of the deep blue sea on CC, LOL!!!

Verandah Man,
i hope those glasses were the cheap kind. but i bet they were the expensive kind. thats what jeff foxworthy would say

The glasses I lost were paid for through my health insurance company, no $$ out of my pocket, thank goodness!!! I get one pair of glasses every two years. I was due for new glasses this year.

The glasses I bought to replace them, were paid by me, ouch, but I will get some $$ back from my insurance company. I could have had them replaced for free also, but I couldn't wait two weeks to see the eye doctor, and another week for the glasses to be made.

At the snack place outside Walt Disney Theatre there were Mickey shaped gummies pretty inexpensive. What we did also was go to the Disney store at home and buy pins that were on sale 50%off and used those for pin trading! That way you can get some pretty cool pins and not spend a fortune. (any cast member wearing a lanyard will trade with you any time if you ask).

Another idea - we bought the cheap DCL hats and had all the characters sign them. They are the coolest souveniers we have! Took the hats to guest services and they had them done for us. I would check for hats at your local Disney store and see if maybe they are on sale right now (for the girls we didn't get baseball hats, but I can't remember what you call the kind we got - kinda like sun hats - very cute)

ok - bucket hats! also check the DVC info desk to see if they have any freebie hats - the first cruise we got those because they were white, the last cruise they were blue so it didn't work.
