My DSs' school have already sent out their lists for next year and two things that causes me some budget concerns is the sharpies he will need and the post its we plan to use to work on his organization.

Does anyone know of a good cheap place to buy either of those?

I think your best bet is to check in July, when everyone is running 'back to school' deals. I know Office Max and Office Depot have good deals on things like that.

It depends on how many Sharpies you may need. The Dollar Store has them on occasion in one packs. They also have post its. But it really depends on how many because sometimes it is cheaper to buy say a dozen. BTW, BIC permanent markers are typically cheaper. Man, your school is on top of things. :goodvibes

Sharpies can usually be found for a good price during back to school sales. The best place for post it's is usually Costco.

I just found 12 packs of Sharpie for $5 at Big Lots. They also have Post-Its but I can't recall the price.

Yeah, they are good at getting the new year stuff out to us.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Check out the Post-it website. They have sent me coupons and freebies in the past!

I don't know if they have to be sharpie brand or not, but I got a 12 pack of colored permanent markers at Dollar Tree this fall for my classroom, and they are still going strong.

If you want actual Sharpie brand, Office Max has Sharpies on buy 1 get 1 free specials just about every other week. I buy them and stock up since they are on all 3 of my kids' school supply lists.

Dollar general had clickable black sharpies for .87 on clearance and post its were a dollar a pack in the color block on clearance too. they have the generic brand on clearance too for about .50

Michaels has them and I used a 40% coupon on them $3.29 bringing them down to $1.97. Not great but better.

Back to school ads are likely to be your best deal. I make a list in early July of what DD thinks she will need, then watch the sales. This year she needed 8 different colors of highlighter for her English Honors class. I think the books looked like a crazy mosaic after they were done highlighting! I know to buy 2 sets when they are on sale for next year--I ended up paying full price for set #2 this year.

If you have an Office Depot or Staples near by you might check the clearance tables when you can...I bought several boxes of post-its on clearance for cheap, sharpies and index cards, too. It's hit and miss, so keep checking when you can.

FYI

Buy.com has a Sharpie marker deal today for a pack of 12 color fine point markers for $6.99 and free shipping. They are the fine point, not ultra fine. It says list price is $15.45.
