We'll be arriving late on Fri. 10/15 with timeshare week starting on Sat. Where can we stay Fri. night for cheap, on site (we have AP, DVC, FR) or off site.
Thanks

On site would be your value resorts: All Star Sport, Music, or Movies. Sorry, but I don't believe in staying off-site:wave2: Never have and never will.

Since we drive up sometimes we like a cheaper hotel for 1 night so we can wake up refreshed for Disney. Now here's the dilemma my DH is a Disney onsite spoiled brat ! So if the POP or All-Stars is avail. for let's say $49 to $55/night we book there. Otherwise we do Priceline & have gotten some very decent/nice hotels for $33, equivelent of a 3 star hotel & it gave us the chance to explore a few dining options off Disney & rest up for Disney since once we get there we never leave the entire time or see our car either !

Which hotels did you stay at from priceline? We are looking for a place the evening we arrive and at the end of the day on our last day. Clean and inexpensive are the goal here. We will be spending 8 nights onsite and plan to stay as late as possible the last day and might need to stay in the area that night. We would like to drive a few hours but my guess is we will be to tired. We like to go go go when we are on vacation.

We are looking for the same type of thing. We are doing a Disney 3 night land/4 night cruise in November. We are flying in and have decided to go in the day before, so we need a hotel for one night, then we are staying at the Beach Club for the rest of the land portion of our trip.

Also looking for suggestions. Thanks!

Just a thought from someone who thought just like you. We took the Wonder land/sea package four years ago and stayed at the POLY for the land portion. We were already booking an extra day and decided to save some money by staying at the All Sports the first night since we were getting in so late. It was a huge mistake. The check-in process was loooong and tiring. There were no bell services for our luggage, that had to be trecked a long way to our room. The room was very small, stuffy, and noisy. We wasted our whole first morning, which could have been spent at the parks, moving to the new location. Remember, the hotel will move your luggage, but not you. That meant two buses to get to the POLY, another registration line (although , thankfully, more efficient), a wait for your luggage, and another wait for your room to be ready. We will never do that again. It might have been only one night, but it was the start of our holiday and a sour one at that.

My plan is to pack an overnight bag for the first night stay and not take all the luggage. We will be driving all day and will not arrive in orlando until at least 10p.m. maybe later we are just looking for a clean place to sleep because we plan to try and check in early Fri. morning. IF we can't get our room that early that's fine we will just pick up our passes and start our vacation! If anyone has stayed at any area hotels that are particularly bad, as in cleanliness or unsafe location please post that as well as any recommendations. Thanks again!

Agreed on Priceline, you can get a lovely three-star hotel for about $30.00. We had an early morning flight out of MCO and pricelined our hotel and got a beautiful Marriott for $28 plus taxes and fees.

Remember, with Priceline, you can't pick the hotel, just the star-level and the zone.

I've never used priceline can you give me some ideas of what star level, price, and zone I would be seeking. I've always worried I'd end up in a bad neighborhood or a dirty hotel or something like that. Do you wait until closer to your travel date to do this or not?

I would do it six weeks out or even closer to the date. You choose the "zone" the hotel is in-- the area of town-- so you're picking the neighborhood. As far as wanting a "good hotel" generally if you pick a three star you're going to get a nice place, although there are risks.

I recommend two things-- go to www.biddingfortravel.com and read the Hotel FAQ, and also read the FAQ at Priceline and look a the different hotel zones in Orlando.

Some people don't like the inhererent "risk" in Priceline of not being able to handpick your hotel, but I think it works great for little overnights where you just need a room to sleep.
