We are making our 4th trip since Dec. 2004. My husband is not going, only my two younger boys, 12 and 14. We will be in GA. for a Military Graduation in mid March, and Disney is only 6 or 7 hours away, how can we not go?

The other times we have done all the parks every day. This time we will not be doing any parks. The Boys have asked to go to Disney Quest. I would like to catch the campfire at the campground. I need cheap or free things to do in or around Orlando that boy would think were fun.

Any ideas??
TIA

You could possibly check-out the waterparks. Admission is considerably less than the parks. My son (13) just loves them.

there are arcades at all the Disney resorts....

Pop Century, value, has a participate nice one.

I think some of the offsite hotels also have an arcade.

where are you staying?

We were going to stay at the Grosvenor, but I thought it was on property. I received a rate of $89 per night in March. I thought I could use Disney transportation and stuff. So now I am looking again. Any ideas??

they have their own transportation system - it is not as good as WDW - but it is pretty good - much better than most offsite.

once you are on Disney property you can use their transportation sytem.

from Govensor you can walk to DD and DQ....

the closets WDW resort to you is SSR.

It does have an arcade although I think your kids would like the one at POR better.

you can take the boat at DD market place to POR.... let them enjoy the arcade then take it back or the buses...

there are also boats to rent at DD.

Since you aren't going to the parks - I won't recommend WDW. there benefits work best if you are going to their parks...since you aren't - no use paying WDW prices and not going to WDW theme parks.

Are your kids into music? We've been meaning to get to the Hard Rock Rock and Roll Vault, but haven't made it there yet. It holds all the stuff that go in and out of the various Hard Rock Hotels and Restaurants.

Or how about an airboat ride? Those are fun...although I must confess I don't remember pricing off the top of my head.

check the site for the orlando magicard....you can download one of their cards...and that entitles you to discounts on lots of different attractions in Orlando. You can check on their site...as to what attractions they list. There's quite a few. Many are very reasonable...
Ripley's Believe It Or Not.... is pretty reasonable....and it's interesting. All along international drive there's little attractions you can go to.....

Are you a member of a science museum at home?? The Orlando Science center has a reciprocal agreement with other science museums so you could go there for free with your home membership. Check out the website of your home museum for details.

There is also putt putt at the Swan.

You could also stay at Cypress Pointe resort instead of the Grosvenor and stay at the resort and swim and do the activities there for the day.

The Disney Boardwalk has free Entertainment starting at 5:30PM and continuing throughout the evening. The lineup and times usually vary and their is no real schedule, but if you walk around you can usually bump into someone. The entertainers are usually jugglers, magicians, singers, dancers. Kids really like the entertainment as it is very interactive and volunteers are almost always needed.

FYI, Hard Rock Vault closed last year. :sad1:

That said, they are quite a few places along I-Drive. Wonder Works, next to Pointe Orlando, is basically a "for-profit" science museum. Skull Kingdom, at Kirkman, is a haunted house-type attraction. There's also a low budget amusement park. If you find the official International Drive website it lists all these places.

Also, my personal favorite when I was that age, there are several mini golf courses around the area.
