Cheap eBay Diffuser for SB-400?

Anyone have any experience with the SB-400 (or, I suppose any hot shoe flash) and the cheap diffusers sold on eBay? I'm looking at the ones that are about $4-15, and I am wondering if they are worth my time. I generally want to use it at for circumstances in which I won't be able to bounce. I realize you get what you pay for quality-wise, and I'm fine with this being a "one time use" type thing. I'm just wondering how well they get the job done. Thanks in advance!

I would stick with the know brands from known stores since you don't really save all that much going the ebay route.

This is a well known brand from amazon for only $10

This is the one I have for my SB 400. Pretty easy just snaps on but it sucks up a LOT of light. If you're using any kind of zoom it's not worth it. The SB 400 is hard to fit with a bounce card in my experience but a homemade *custom* one might work. Or you can do what I did and get the SB 600 and GF origami diffuser/bounce.:thumbsup2 (of course now I want the SB 900. It never ends...)

I would recommend saving the money and getting an SB600 or SB900. If you can find an SB800 more power to you!

Oops sorry for the pun!

Thanks for the tip. I often use the flash at moderate distances, so that diffuser may not fit the bill. What about the paper ones? Do they "diffuse less?"

I wouldn't mind having the SB-600 or 800, but most of the time at WDW, I'm wearing the camera around all day with the flash attached, and I think the bulk of either of the bigger flashes could become a problem. Plus, they take up more room in the camera bag, etc., so I think the trade off in the limitations of the SB-400 is one I will accept...for now.
