Or not us.

hopefully....

Well, why hello. We are two 3rd/4th year college students who love Disney World. And we like to go to Disney World multiple times each year. We are south Florida residents and we have seasonal passes. If it is not a short weekend trip, it is a 5-7 day trip where we endeavor to eat rich and sinful foods every single day--a feat we certainly try not to do back home. We like to eat because it is fun and feels oh so good. Who are we?

Here:

Oh sorry, that is us in the Disney spirit. Sorry. How did that get snuck in there?

How about this:

No? What happened to our bodies? That is totally not actual life!

Ugh okay, one last try before I give up:

IMG_3204.jpg

Much better. And look! There is food already precariously placed infront of our grubby hands. Niiiice. That makes this review already easy enough.

Anyway, after this apparant photo fiascal, let me get down to the quick nitty gritty.

My name is Sarah and my boyfriend of 4 years is Dustin. I am a 4th year (not that I am almost graduating; I have just been in college for four years) student majoring in English and attending Florida Atlantic University. I am also a pescetarian. Confused? There is a nifty internet craze called google, I hear. ;) Other than my pescetarian ways, I am very adventerous in the food department.

Dustin is a 3rd year student (and for him, that actually means he is a junior--more determination, I suppose) majoring in Media Arts and Animation whom attends The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. He is very picky. He is questionable over mystery sauces, but loves meat and potatoes of any kind (except game). He hates any vegetable to a passion. If he eats a spinach leaf, he swallows it with a grimace and goes "blech, yuck!" very loudly. He also hates fresh fruit and most fruit flavored things. He does not like foods with mayonnaise, nor sour cream. He can stand herbs, just not chives.

He is a sugar fiend (especially cookies). He dreams of mozzarella cheese. But, he is adventerous in his own way--he loves sushi and cous cous, things with interesting spices and zings to it. But trust me (thanks! you just met me!), before we met, he wouldn't even eat rice or pasta because it was "slippery feeling." But I am NOT laughing at him... it is a real phobia that he has struggled to get through.

Did y'all notice that his introduction was two paragraphs long? Sheesh. I guess I don't have much to say about me then, huh?

This will be the longest of my descriptions, because I will follow a quick and easy format. First will be our server's name (if applicable), the time of the reservation and what was noted on the receipt, and date. Then will be the lovely pictures and our quick (yet hopefully witty) thoughts. And then, the cost--individual items first, then the whole shebang. Lastly will be our thoughts on the whole experience. Also expect some fun pictures, inside shots of the restaurants, and some menu glances.

Oh, yeah, we were also on the basic DDP with lots of OOP meals thrown in, with the use of the DDE/Tables in Wonderland (:sniff: do I smell pot?) card. We were also staying at the AKL. This is not important to the food reviews, but I digress.

Restaurants/things to be reviewed: in order.

The Mara (multiple times)
Wolfgang Puck Express
Goofy's Candy Company
Boma (dinner)
Main Street Bakery
Aloha Isle
Tony's Town Square (lunch)
'Ohana (dinner)
Kringla Bakeri og Cafe
Germany pretzel
Smoothies from America (well how 'bout that?)
Rose and Crown (dinner)
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Boma Cookie Decorating
Chefs de France (dinner)
Yak and Yeti (lunch)
Boma (breakfast)
Narcoossee's (dinner)
The Writers Stop
Raglan Road (lunch)

K. Thanks. And I hope we didn't scare you away because these pics sure look miiiighty tasty. :thumbsup2

I've been wondering where your reviews were, young lady! ;)

Love the pictures ... love the intro ... really looking forward to reading along! :thumbsup2

I so am super duper excited for this one!

We are staying at the AKL next month and will probably eat at Mara a few times too and dinner at Boma

So bring it on girl, I am ready to drool!

THE MARA

from, Day 1

Time: Unknown, as the reciept got covered in free syrup as I went on a tangent and drank the precious liquid from its tiny body. I shall use my memory (oh bother) and say the time was 7:45 am. Early. We just got to the hotel.

Cast Member: An older lady who instructed us to get bigger juice drinks for the counter service credit. Thanks lady with african hat!

Review:

The Mara Sign
IMG_2550.jpg

You'll need it. The Mara is located outside by the pool. If you are not careful, you might just walk straight on to the other side. Isn't that a song?

Bounty Platter with meats on the side, along with one chocolate milk, one orange juice, ketcup, jam, and the aforementioned free breakfast syrup (for the potatoes)
IMG_2547.jpg

It was standard breakfast fare. The eggs and waffle were outsanding, though. Not too runny, yet not rubber at all, and the waffle was crisp. And it was fairly hot, a trend I happily saw at Mara.
Dustin: I liked the meats and potatoes.

Summary:

Bounty platter - 8 something (yes! oy.)
Orange juice - 2.39
Chocolate milk - 2.59
Total: Around 12.98

WOLFGANG PUCK EXPRESS

from, Day 1

Time: 12:53 PM

Cast Member: Shaneena (love that name)

Situation: We just spent 4 hours at Typhoon Lagoon frollicking in the slight rain and intermitted sunshine. As we are close to Downtown Disney, I wittily imply... FOOD. Please have it be at WPE, where MickeyNicki has given us lovely pictures of. Also, it was expensive, and yes--I wanted to get my money worth. I mean, is that a crime? We are two college students and thrifty is our name-o.... don't JUDGE us, man! :guilty:

Review:

Meatball and Parmesan Pizza (Niman Ranch meatballs, fresh basil pesto, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, tomato-basil garlic sauce and fresh basil)
IMG_2590.jpg

IMG_2592.jpg

In Dustin's own words: It was good. Thats it. I'm sorry, it was just good. Enough said. Well, the meatballs itself was very good--they had a nice flavor to them. It was a nice size.
Sarah's Edit:  He ate it. I guess that means he liked it.

Mediterranean Vegetable Focaccia Melt (a savory blend of fresh goat cheese, mozzarella, and Grana Pordana Parmesan, sautéed zucchini, mushrooms, eggplant and peppers blended with sun-dried tomatoes and rolled in warm, all natural garlic focaccia bread. Served with a side of fresh greens)
IMG_2594.jpg

IMG_2596.jpg

Outstanding. The vegetables were fresh and still crispy with a lot of flavor, the cheese melty, the bread garlicky, and don't get me started on the messy factor. Anything messy has to be good, hence the wild amount of work for it. I did not care for the greens at all. It seemed to be missing its dressing. I could not finish this.

Creme Brulee
IMG_2589.jpg

Oddly enough, the best creme brulee I have ever eaten. Sooo good and sooo sinful. The sugar on top is the best part. Delish.

Dustin also had a brownie because he is also a brownie fiend. He was expecting something fudgier, but got something cakier. He still ate it though. I mean, how can you not?

Summary:

Meatball Pizza - 12.95
Veggie melt - 11.95
Creme Brulee - 3.95
Brownie - 2.95
2 Fountain Drinks - 4.50
Total w/ tax: 38.66 (yes sir, I believe we did get a good deal, there)
2 CS Credits

Wolfgang Puck Express impressed me. This is counter service? It sure didn't feel like it, as runners give you the food on real (albiet hard plastic) plates with silverware. They also refill your drinks. We left a couple dollars. We will definitely be back. And you should go to!

And... one more....

GOOFY'S CANDY COMPANY

from, Day 1

Time: 1:46 pm

Review:

Make Your Own Rice Crispy Treat
IMG_2609.jpg

IMG_2610.jpg

In Dustin's own words: I got it dipped in milk chocolate, covered in rainbow sprinkles (taste the rainbow), and drizzled in white chocolate.
Sarah's Edit: It took him all week to eat this. For some reason, he can eat the marshmellow stick in one sitting, but not the big rice crispy treat. Oh wellz. It made me envious as I watched him in bug-eyed delight. He also got crumbs and candy pieces all over the floor, which I, practicing my future wifely duties, crawled around after him getting the pieces that he so ignored. :lovestruc

Summary:

Make your own crispy treat - 3
Total with tax: 3.18
1 Snack credit

Chocolate covered foods are good. 'Nuff said. We highly recommend this experience. It is mucho fun to watch the CMs make your treats, even if they aren't your own.

Oh boy! Can't wait to hear more....I'll be here waiting patiently popcorn::

And let me just say that the Rice Krispy treat looks DELISH! I'm sitting here at my desk at work, with my stomach growling, looking at all this food porn!

WOW those pics of WPE look incredible....I need to go there for our arrival dinner again...yummy yummy in my tummy!

Can you believe DH and I have never made anything at Goofy's? And he is the king of all sugar highs....note to self must go there and force him to make a sweet so I can try it

Great reviews!!! I cannot wait to try out Goofy's next week!!!

The Mara was one of our favorite places when we stood at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Great review.

Awesome pictures. We enjoyed Mara when we stayed at AKL. Only problem was our room was way way far away. We ended up renting a pool ocker one day to keep or refillable mugs so that we didn't have to go back to the room to get them after we had been to the parks.

Looking forward to more.

I want to go to Goofy's right now. Last year our snacks lasted a few days.

Hey everyone! Thank you for the kind comments. :cloud9: I'm over at Dustin's house for the weekend... I stupidly forgot the reciepts at my home so there won't be any new reviews until tomorrow. Sorry!! But I will say something: I'm glad I decided to write them! :thumbsup2

I guess I'll take the time to put some DVDs and random stuff up for sale on ebay. Anything to save up for disney is greatly needed. :cutie:
