Orange County airport to DL?

We are flying down and there will be 6 of us and we need a cheap yet not too crazy way to get to the DL area. In other words one that hopefully doesn't make 8 million stops. We are flying in at 8:30 at night and if we can get one that makes a round trip we would like that and since we want to have as long as possible on our last day I don't want to have to worry about lots of stops on our return.

I am counting on you guys cuz I know you guys are great!! :)

We always just take a cab. They have vans that hold eight passengers for the same price of about $40 each way.

I vote for the taxi. It will be cheaper than a shuttle with 6 of you.

So let me ask you this if I go out to the Taxi area is there a way to guarantee the 40 price up front? I just ask cuz I have been scammed before. And then what about on the return? We will have a 7 p.m. flight back on Monday the 3rd so we will want to be back to the airport around 5 so I will probably want to be picked up around 4. Do you know how I can arrange a cab to pick us up at our hotel that I can guarantee that price?

I know when I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel they gave me a voucher where they couldn't charge me more than that but we are staying at the Del Sol so I just don't want to get scammed and also I don't know how to go about arranging a van to pick me up etc.

Also we have to check out at 11 but we want to spend the day in the park. Does anyone know if the Del Sol will stow our luggage for us. I know if it was a Disney property they would be I have never tried it with one of the smaller hotels.

Sorry for all the questions but this is something new we are trying.

TIA!!

We paid $67 (one way) for an exclusive van at SuperShuttle to take us from Orange County to Anaheim, and another $67 to take us back to the airport at the end of our vacation.

There are 8 of us so this was the most inexpensive route for us.

I have never had a problem with supershuttle. In 2003 I went ot disneyland for an event and I got in pretty late and from LAX to Anaheim they didn't charge me that much.

Gray Line runs the Disneyland Express directly from SNA (John Wayne) to the Disneyland Hotels (on site and Good Neighbor). Where you have six people in your group, the taxi might work best. For smaller groups (like my DW and I) it's cheaper to take the shuttle. It's regularly $24 per person round trip. But I found a coupon to save $3 on the roundtrip.
You can get more information at:

Here is the link for the coupon:

Happy Planning!

Thanks so much everyone. I think we are going to go the Taxi route. I just hope we can get that 40 fare! :)

It's been a while since I have used the taxi (2 years or so), but it was easy to just confirm the flat rate with the taxi coordinator. For us, it was $35. The hard part is getting that rate on the return trip. The cabs that drive from the airport are under contract with the airport to provide certain flat fees. The cabs that are waiting at your hotel are under no such contract so will want to charge you mileage.

I would ask the cab you ride with on your way to the hotel for his business card, and ask if he (or his company) would be willing to give you the same fare on the return trip. That way you can call ahead for your specific cab when you are ready to leave.

Good luck!

So are you saying with a cab that for two of us it will cost $80 each way? If so, we may just rent a car. Does the super shuttle and Disneyland Express run at 10 pm? That's when we get in.

I've always taken the SuperShuttle and had great luck. I'm a bit nervous and prefer having everything squared away before I go. I like that I have reservations, they're paid for, and they tell me what time they will pick me up for the return to the airport based on my flight time--they know the traffic and rules better than I do. There is no need to call while you're there because it's set up before you leave home.

With that many of you in one group, chances are good that you won't share the van or if you do, it will only be with one other party, but if you choose the exclusive van option I think there is a coupon code that will get you $5 off each direction. If the coupon code works, then the cost of the exlusive van would go from $67 each way to $62. I have some other codes that will get you $4 off per person roundtrip on the regular shared van, which is normally $20 RT per person, so you'd pay $16 RT each for a total of $96 RT for 6.

This means that a taxi at $40 each way would save you $8 OW/$16 RT over the shuttle price, but with the shuttle you have a guaranteed rate that you can prepay and reservations made ahead of time.

If you're interested, here are the coupon codes: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/supershuttle.com I used the PGESC code.

No, cabs don't charge per person, they charge per trip. So it would be $40 each way no matter how many people you cram into that cab/van. ;)

Thanks, Danger Mouse. I've only ridden in a Taxi once before and someone else was handling hte details. How much of a tip would you give on that?

I'm not sure what we will do. We've had good luck with Super Shuttle before, but have had to wait for the shuttle for 45 minutes or so, even with the reservation (on the leg from the airport to the hotel.) They were trying to group more than one family in a trip and were waiting for them to get their bags.

Slightly OT, are you expected to tip the shuttle driver?:confused3

Yes, you're expected to tip the shuttle driver. If you prepay, you can include the tip at that time. I don't do that anymore because the one time I did I got the feeling that the driver didn't like that system. He seemed to be waiting for a tip and when I told him I'd prepaid it, he didn't look too happy.

Just for grins and giggles, how much % wise?:confused3

I tip 15-20%, but I'm not really sure what the standard is. If you book on the website I think 15-20% is what it recommends when it asks if you want to include a tip.

Just to add examples: I tipped $5 for a party of 3; $8 last year for a party of 4 (each way). Last year we were the only ones in the van.
