Who do you use ? I remember reading one might be having problems and implied it may fold? I don’t want to book a trip for august and be out of luck .
Thanks

The airline you are referring to is Flair. They are currently being investigated by the Canadian Transport Agency for possibly "not qualifying as a Canadian airline" due to there ownership structure and plane leasing etc. I know they've attempting to align themselves with the rules and they seem to think they'll be fine. I have a flight to Orlando (that I moved from March Break) in August so I'm obviously hoping that everything works out.. I would wait a few weeks if I was going to book with them and see how it all pans out.

Swoop (owned by Westjet) is another low cost Canadian carrier.

Also, the charter airlines (Air Transat, Sunwing) have some domestic flights, especially during the summer tourist season.

Also, rumour is Air Canada is going to rethink it's Rouge division and may turn it into a low cost "a la carte" carrier to compete more directly with Flair, Swoop etc.

Don't know if that will happen in time for your August trip though.

Remember just because the ticket price is cheap doesn't mean the final cost if cheap. Most if these discount airlines charge for just about everything. Swoop even charges per transactions if you have to call the contact center and their baggage fees increase the closer you get to your flight and the longer the flight is.

Hey. I've flown both swoop and flair in the past and they have been fine. Based on news, etc, i wouldnt want to rely on the airline unless your trip was somewhat flexible. I feel like the likelihood of flair or swoop changing/cancelling is higher than some other more established airlines.
