Does anyone have the Chase Freedom credit card for rewards? What do you think of it?

I like it. There is no annual fee, and you get cash back on purchases. I'm pretty sure its 1 percent on everything and 3 percent on your top 3 categories (to a maximum of only 12 dollars per month on the top 3 categories). That adds up slowly, but if you let the rewards go until you have 200 dollars, you can redeem for a 250 check, thats what makes it worth it to me.
We charge EVERYTHING, and pay in full every month, so it does add up fairly fast.

When I first got this card about 3-4 years ago, it was fantastic. I always got 5% on gas and groceries up to $300. per year. BUT, now it's not so great. It's the basic 1% and then they will have special categories you sign up for periodically that give you 3%. The problem I found with that is it doesn't ever show I signed up for it, no matter how many times I do. And for some reason, I'm too lazy to call about it and just tend to default to my Disney Chase or Discover. :confused3

Edited: My Chase Freedom is not like the pp - I chose a different plan.

You may want to doublecheck because we have this card and they no longer offer most of the rewards you have listed. Or at least they no longer do for us and many others. We received notification in the mail many months ago. We still get 1% back and now only get 3% back on their choice of rotating categories. And you have to resign up everytime they change the categories that would like to get the 3% back for them. They have also given a spending limit in order to take advantage of the 3% ie you get 3% back at book & electronic stores if you spend more than $750in Jan, Feb, & Mar. They also do not offer the $250 check when you earn $200 anymore. That was a nice perk. We used that for souveniors on our last trip to Disney.
We used to use this card every month to pay our monthly bills since utilities was one of the 10 or 12 categories you could earn 3% back on. We paid it off every month since we only used it for our utility bills. The changes to this card are pretty pathetic. They took all of those rewards away and then starting calling the new way less reward program "Ultimate Rewards." What a crock... I am currently looking for a new rewards card.

We are still getting all the benefits I listed, I just got another $250 check for 200 points last week. I watch this because I've been afraid it will change, because so many other cards have, but so far, it hasn't changed.

I used to have the Chase Freedom card.....until they dropped the 3% bonus. I called them and upgraded to their Sapphire card. Better rewards, better benefits, and the customer service is out of this world. They have a travel concierge that we called on our last trip driving back from Disney, who told us which hotels were in the nearest city and their nightly rates.

Mine changed too - about three months ago. I cashed it out luckily before the change.

I think the other poster described it right - 1% cash back on everything, 3% on rotating categories every three month, and no extra cash when you hit the $200 reward mark.

The Chase Freedom is my primary card, because of the past rewards program. I'm on the lookout for better offers now, too.

I have this card, but only because I wanted it to be the "overdraft protection" for my checking account, lol. Only right before dance competition season (coming up now!!) or other family trip, do I check the reward eligibility. Usually it's very pathetic, because I don't really use this card, though.

We just got an offer for this card in the mail 2 days ago. I read it over because I was thinking of switching to some sort of cash back rewards card as opposed to our Disney Visa & SW air card we have which has an annual fee.

This is what I got out of the offer. No annual fee, 1% back on all purchases, 3% back on special offers. To me, it made it sound like they will run promos and when the promo is going on for gas, for example, that is when I would get the 3% back on gas purchases.

I actually like my Disney Visa, so I'm going to stick with what we have and not change cards. We've had our SW air card forever, and it has a high credit line, and I like that one too, even though I cringe about paying an annual fee, so I shredded the offer that came in the mail.

I still get all of the original stuff, including the $250 reward for redeeming 200.
