Charlotte Singedskull and the Frozen Castle-Aug 30 thru Sept 4- Complete!

I've never had the infamous chocolate mousse but I don't think I'm in danger of having some anytime soon! However, the burger looks good!

I love the authentic details at AK as well.

I got DD a cinnamon roll

Which she didnt eat and DH and I ended up sharing the next morning.
Her loss. I don't care how much you don't like to eat breakfast, cinnamon rolls at Disney World are hard to beat. :rotfl2:

We saw Devine along the way.
I'd really like to see her sometime. But I guess we'd probably have to spend more time in AK for that to happen. :rolleyes1

These are the babies !!
Cool! I'm glad she got to see them! :thumbsup2

While we were off riding Expedition Everest, DH took DD to check out the Wilderness Explorer Activity. It was a neat little setup. You went around to all of these little stations and you would learn about animals or different cultures. It was really neat. There are 22 stations and you got a sticker for each one you went to.
I might have to check this out next time. Looks like a neat idea and a fun way to kill some time around AK.

DH and DD went to ride Kali River Rapids. Not fans of getting wet, DS and I just looked around and waited for them to be done.
I wish KRR was a better ride. I want to like it, but for a 30 second ride that only soaks you... :confused3 Nice on a hot day if you're getting ready to leave the park, but otherwise, not worth it.

Those potatoes do look good! I remember your live thread updates. I need to get those somehow.

The potatoes were really yummy. Everything else was just kinda meh. They need to step up their game at that food court.

Also agree on that mousse. I hate that slimy liquidy first layer of chocolate!

Why do they do that?? They do it with the cheesecake, too. That slimy gel - yuck  Once you get past taht though, it always tastes really good.

I'm officially obsessed with the baby giraffes.

Who isn't?? Giraffes are my favorite animal. Those babies were just so cute. We couldn't get a decent picture of them.

I think that ice cream truck would look right at home in my house. :lmao:

I love that truck. It is just so cool. All of the detail on it and I just love the colors. And the ice cream is the really good soft serve. Not the fake stuff, but the thick creamy GOOD stuff.

I like Restaurantasaurus....mainly because it's one of the only indoor eating places in Animal Kingdom.

Besides Yak and Yeti, you are right. The kids love it there, but I could take it or leave it. The light fixtures were cool, though.

I don't think I've ever seen that ice cream truck open. Maybe it's the time of day we pass it? :confused3

Maybe. We always go there in the morning. It is always open for us.

I'm with you and Danielle who said that first layer on the mousse is disgusting, but after that I am in heaven.

I wish they would just get rid of that layer. It's icky. But I agree, it is worth it to get at what is underneath. I just scrape off the top layer.

The Wilderness Explorer activity for kids looks like a great thing.

It was really cute, DD really liked it and she wished we had more time for it. We can take the book back next time though and finish up.

It is such a wonderfully themed park !!

DH and I had it the next morning. It was still fresh and tasted great. You are right ..... her loss.

I'd really like to see her sometime. But I guess we'd probably have to spend more time in AK for that to happen. :rolleyes1

We always see her. She is sooo cool.

Cool! I'm glad she got to see them! :thumbsup2

They were so cute !! I wish we had gotten a better photo, but we just couldn't.

I might have to check this out next time. Looks like a neat idea and a fun way to kill some time around AK.

It was really neat. Even I can't wait to go back and see the stations. It is very interesting.

I wish KRR was a better ride. I want to like it, but for a 30 second ride that only soaks you... :confused3 Nice on a hot day if you're getting ready to leave the park, but otherwise, not worth it.

I am soo with you on this one. DD loves it and DH always rides with her. I always get SOAKED and that is just not fun !!

Day 2 – Part 4

After lunch, DD and DH went to ride Dinosaur. I find that ride too bumpy, so DS stayed with me. He wanted to get one of those disgusting Monster drinks. He saw one at the gift shop at the exit of Expedition Everest, so we scooted over there to get him one.

NOW he smiles. I think these things are so icky and so bad for you. He loves them though. I try to get him to only drink one a day. Too many of our snack credits disappeared over these. Gross.

After that, we headed up front to the gifts shops. DH and DD were going to ride Kali again because the line was short, they would meet us after that. When they met up with us, DD wanted to get some souvenirs. I give each of the kids a gift card at the beginning of each trip. This is all they have to spend on thing they want. It really cuts down on the begging and unnecessary things. They think twice when they have their own money to think about.

She bought some flip flops and a sailor suit for her Duffy.

DD was dying to swim in the pool at Beach Club, so we headed back to the resort to check it out. We got ready and headed down. I had to go by the gift shop/food court to get DH’s mug reactivated. It wasn’t working. DD HAD to get a castle sand bucket they had for sale. It was only $5, so I said OK. Here she is in the pool with her bucket.

She loved this bucket and had a great time playing with it in the sand part of the pool. I got in and took a spin in the whirlpool. They have an actual whirlpool with a current that pulls you around in a circle. It was super cool. I can’t swim very well these days due to a bad ankle injury and surgery last year. I can’t kick that foot without it hurting really bad, so I just got cooled off and found a place to sit and write in my trip journal. DH took some photos.

He brought the camera back to me and jumped in with the kids. They all tried the slide and pronounced it the best pool slide ever !! After about an hour or so, there was thunder. And we all know what that means. Out of the pool !! So we went back to the villa for a shower and a little rest.
It rained a little and then stopped, so we decided to head out for some dinner. We went over to the Boardwalk Bakery.

When we got there, we were the only ones there and while we were thinking about what we were going to get, a huge family came in with a bunch of little kids in full on meltdown mode. Apparently, they were hungry and tired. There was this one little boy who was REALLY bad. They had THREE double strollers with kids climbing in and out of them.

I had little kids once and I understand that this happens. But here is my question. Why does the WHOLE family need to come into the restaurant to order quick service? Why can’t just an adult or two come in and order while the others go outside and find a spot to sit and get the kids settled down? With all of them in there, it was complete chaos and the CM’s had trouble concentrating on orders.

Anyway, we finally get our food and head outside to eat. In the ensuing chaos, I had sent DH outside to find a place to sit, so DD and I joined him. She helped me carry drinks. As we get everything situated and start to eat, the LOUD family come outside and where do they sit ?? Yep. Right next to us. UGH !! Once they got some food in everyone, though, they were OK. The one little boy was still very loud and very bad. They had a hard time getting him settled down.

Anyhoodle – this is what we had to eat.

DD got the kids macaroni

She ate it all, so she seemed to like it.

I got the Salmon sandwich.

It was OK. I don’t think I would get it again. I got chips with it

DH got the Roast Beef sandwich

He said it was good. He got the cucumber salad to go with it.

For dessert, we got a Chocolate Mickey ganache and an Oreo cupcake.

These were really good. I don’t think we will eat dinner here again. If we go back, it will just be for the dessert type things or breakfast stuff. I know that people complain about the quick service places and how mainstream that food has been in the past. I do think Disney has stepped up their game and put some interesting things on the menus, but this just really wasn’t our thing, I guess. I was good enough though and not horrible by any means.

The rain had cooled things off and DH got some photos of our awesome view while we were eating.

DS had gone off on his own to get some food from Hurricane Hannas and do some exploring.

We all met back up again and headed back to the villa to watch some football.

I'm not a big fan of energy drinks either. I'll drink one every once in a while, but it is never really a first choice type of thing.

I think some pool time was a great choice. That is the number one reason I'd really like to stay at Beach Club sometime.:thumbsup2

They don't even taste good. I just don't get it .....different strokes, I guess .....

That pool is A-MAZ-ING. We had to get wristbands every time we went. The CM giving us a wristband once said that about 200 people a day try to sneak into the pool to use it.

Not being able to swim is the worst part of the ankle injury. It really hurts trying to kick. That pool looks like it's fun, no wonder people try and sneak in but I'm glad they get caught. I really dislike rule breakers. I love that area to visit and the pics of the view were really nice.

I'm happy my DGS doesn't really like the monster drinks. He drinks Gatorade constantly though.

great update - I love all the extra things that Disney has in their parks, like those explorer stations

I really like the view of the boardwalk ... though I would love it if there wasn't the Swalphin in the background :lmao:

We loved it there !! The pool was awesome. We kinda took this trip so we could take advantage of our Premium Passes we got through DVC which has unlimited water parks on them. But we just didn't need to go to a water park when we had this pool !!

I'm happy my DGS doesn't really like the monster drinks. He drinks Gatorade constantly though.

Gatorade is better than the Monster, I think. At least it doesn't have all of that caffeine in it.

Yeah, the new trip report, I'm so excited to start reading. I've been off the grid with the start of school, but I'm ready to finish my TR and start planning the next trip already. So excited to read yours!!!

Hey Cara !! I am so happy you came over to say hello !! Yes, I want to read more of yours !!

Day 3 – Part 1

I got up about 8 AM and headed down to the Beach Club Marketplace to gather up some breakfast. DD said she wanted a rice krispie treat

I got DS a Monster

And DH and I shared a breakfast sandwich.

A whole grain croissant with eggs, cheese and bacon. It came with breakfast potatoes and we got the first scoop from a fresh pan. Very yummy.

When I got back, DD was all in a tizzy. It seems that she couldn’t find her sand castle bucket we bought the day before. We looked around for it, .but couldn’t find it. I caught the smile on DS’s face and we had a tickle fight with him until he told us where he put it.

Well, it turns out, he filled it up with water and put it in the freezer. And this is the result.

We thought it was really funny and I was pretty impressed with how it turned out.

We put it in the sink

And headed out to the park. Today was Magic Kingdom Day !!!
It was a sunny but HOT day.

Castle sighting !!

DD wanted to get BTMRR fast passes, so we headed over that way.

We stopped and got photos at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

Daddy was instructed to drive.

Then it was DD’s turn to drive. DH looks scared.

Back on our way to BTMRR

We gathered FP’s and headed over to POTC to ride that.

It was a walk-on.

After that, DD needed some ice cream.

Then we headed towards the Haunted Mansion.

My bestie, Pixie Princess, had texted me to say they were at MK today as well and we met up with them prior to Haunted Mansion. They had a FP for Be Our Guest lunch, so they were going over there to eat. We rode HM.

No wait. Ahhhh – September ….

Then we used the Tangled Toilets

We got FP’s for Peter Pan.

Then we went over to Philharmagic to catch the show.

The Phil !!!

Move all the way down, please !!

As usual, we loved it and it was a good place to cool down some. After that, we headed over to Columbia Harbor House for lunch.

Just catching up. You are having some fun days. I am now hungry looking at the breakfast potatoes!!!!

Lot's of catching up!! So.....

Yay for baby giraffes!! They were possibly the cutest things ever! That ice cream truck is pretty cool, but the eyeballs kinda freak me out a bit.

If you look around Restaurantasorus (or however you spell it) you'll notice it is once was the Dino Institute! I belive the light fixture you photographed is what was considered the visitors welcome area. There's all sorts of cool things in there.

When I saw the pic of your DS smiling with his Monster drink, I though, "He can smile!" And then you wrote pretty much the same thing. LOL!

SAB looks like so much fun. I was so disappointed when we had to cancel our stay at YC. I can imagine all sorts of people try sneaking in over there. As we were leaving Pop on our last day I noticed three people who had apparently used the pool there when they shouldn't have. LOL! One lady, who had clearly been in the pool, came out of the restroom in the lobby fully dressed. Why would you change clothes if you are staying at the resort. Then as we were exiting we saw a mother and her teen daughter w/ beach towels wrapped around them and a cooler heading out to the parking lot. IDK, maybe they stopped in the food court having come back from a water park, but I kinda doubt it.

That castle is hilarious. Boys are silly. Oh well, better freezing her sand bucket than freezing her bra! Or are girls the only ones that do that to each other?

I love me the low Sept. crowds too. I wish we could have stayed a week. It was just too short! I wanted to go back for the Unleash the Villains thing, and my DD refused to go because she didn't want to miss school.

I was most unhappy when I saw the DIS' video of the fireworks that night. Oh well. I'm thinking of going on a solo trip during her fall break. She's going to the beach with a friends, so why not? I can do the Keys to the Kingdom tour and all the F&W fest I want!

All AK is so interesting if you just take the time to look. Although, I am not sure what the Dino Institute was. Something to do with the Dinosaur ride, I presume ??

When I saw the pic of your DS smiling with his Monster drink, I though, "He can smile!" And then you wrote pretty much the same thing. LOL!

For real. I miss my happy little boy !! What are ya gonna do ??

SAB is amazing !! I often wonder how many people sneak in the pools. But you have to get past the front gate, don't you ?? I wonder how they do that ??

That castle is hilarious. Boys are silly. Oh well, better freezing her sand bucket than freezing her bra! Or are girls the only ones that do that to each other?

I couldn't tell you. I guess we did that, huh?? LOL

I love me the low Sept. crowds too. I wish we could have stayed a week. It was just too short! I wanted to go back for the Unleash the Villains thing, and my DD refused to go because she didn't want to miss school.

I read that the Unleash the Villians thing was CRAZY crowded and that HS was closed due to capacity. With that crowd, I wonder how much fun it really was?

I was most unhappy when I saw the DIS' video of the fireworks that night. Oh well. I'm thinking of going on a solo trip during her fall break. She's going to the beach with a friends, so why not? I can do the Keys to the Kingdom tour and all the F&W fest I want!

Wouldn't that be awesome?? I would sooo love to join you !!!

SAB looks so much fun. I was there once, but somehow I only ended up visiting SAB for a brief time. I'd like to try it again. It must be perfect for your kid's ages.

That fiasco at the BW bakery does not sound fun. Yikes! I agree with you - keep the cranky kids outside while the adults order. That's what I always did when I traveled with my nephews. It's just too much sometimes.

Yay for MK. You got some beautiful shots. :thumbsup2
