Charlotte Singedskull and the Frozen Castle-Aug 30 thru Sept 4- Complete!

The meet was so much fun. I wish I wasn't so shy, but I really enjoyed meeting everyone! So happy you and Tammy organized it! :cool1:

It really was fun. I am so glad that you came. Too bad that it rained, the campfire was looking like it was going to be really fun. And we were killing that trivia contest they were having.

I love your AK photos! You always catch the best details. Yay for animal photos!

Well, it was like you said in your TR, that park is themed to the max. Lots of great details for photo ops.

sounds like a great time at the Dismeet ... glad to see it looked like the kids were getting along as well :thumbsup2

I have to agree with you that the food options are very limited at the Marketplace. :(

We saw a "Mr. Devine" this trip (I'm not at that point in my TR yet) which was really cool.

Yay for a walk-on for the Safari; can't wait for the pictures.

Hi Susan! Your family sounds like mine with breakfast. I'll fetch an assortment of breakfast items and they are all rejected. At least we try! BTW, how were those breakfast potatoes. They look so good but I've heard they are just meh. I love potato casseroles so would lie to keep this on the radar.

Your Dismeet gifts were so perfect - how thoughtful of you! I recognized Meg, she's adorable. I peeked at the link and saw the Mickey themed trailer and it almost makes me want to camp if it was that much fun!)

Lovely BC photos!

Yes the kids had a blast! They were all pretty much the same age, so that was great.

Great pics! :)

Thanks !!

Yes, just by adding a few items, it could be so much better. They certainly not kid friendly.

I can't wait to see that photo !!

We have a bunch - and there is baby giraffes !!

I just don't get it. I can't freaking wait to eat when I get up ... LOL. The breakfast potatoes were good!! I really liked them !!

Thanks !! I really enjoyed making them. She is adorable !! The Mickey Camper is sooo cool. I would love to have one !!

Lovely BC photos!

Day 2 Part 2

When I last left off, we were about to board the safari. DD was especially excited to see the baby giraffe. Last April when we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, DD noticed a pregnant giraffe and asked one of the CMs about it. She was told that indeed that momma giraffe was going to have a baby.

I saw the story a few months later that a new calf had been born. He was a Masai giraffe and they named him Mosi. Mosi means first born in Swahili. As we were about to board our vehicle, DD got chatty with the CM and asked if we would see him on our safari that day. The CM was very happy to talk about this and let us know that there was not only one baby giraffe but TWO. There was another calf out and he was a reticulated giraffe and his name was Gordon. So we were pumped to see some baby giraffes.

This CM was awesome, he told us we would get the best seats for this safari and those, he said, were at the back of the vehicle. I never really thought about this, but he was right !! Having the very back seat afforded us with an unrestricted view behind us.

We set off on our safari and DH took photos.

I forget what these are called, but there was a whole herd of them crossing the road and disappearing into the underbrush on the other side.

Rhino

Hippos

Crocs

And at long last && GIRAFFES !!!

These are the babies !!

Elephants

Baby Elephants !!

Cheetah

White Rhino

Warthogs

And this Ostrich was just sitting by the side of the road. Just chillin.

Addax

After the safari, DS and I headed over to Expedition Everest with our fast passes.

This is my favorite coaster at Disney. I love how smooth it is. DH took DD to get some ice cream so DS and I rode two times in a row. I love the queue on this ride. So many interesting things to see.

Baby giraffes yay!! So adorable. I only remember seeing one so I was gyped!! That or I didn't pay attention. ;)

I gotta say the crocs are my favorite. Throw them a chicken and watch the fun begin.

EE the BEST ride at AK!

I was so excited when you posted on FB about yours. DD REALLY wanted to see the baby.

I gotta say the crocs are my favorite. Throw them a chicken and watch the fun begin.

I have always secretly wondered if those crocs were fake. I have never seen one move. I bet the chicken would help !! LOL

EE the BEST ride at AK!

My favorite !! I can't wait for the Mine Coaster at MK to open though !!

nice Safari pics, and great tip to sit in the back :thumbsup2

and I definitely think Gordon sounds like a good name for a giraffe

They were so cute !! We just couldn't capture photos of them good enough with the camera !!

I love the lobby of the BCV. It's such a pretty area. Do you have points there or did you book at 7 months? I am really due to stay there again.

Those baby giraffes are SO cute! Wow. They get big fast, don't they?

Great way to start your day on the Safari!

Between your updates and mine, I can't keep up. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What a great safari ride. We sat in the back row on our trip last month and ti was great.

You got great pictures of all the animals (and most of them up and moving), especially the giraffes and elephants.

We own at SSR, so we got this at 7 months. Loved it !!

They were cute. They were much smaller than the adults, but it is hard to tell from the photos, because we got just the babies together with no adults in the photo. But they are born 6 feet tall already.

Great way to start your day on the Safari!

We always do the safari first.

LOL - I need to go catch up with yours !! I wanna see that male Devine.

I never really thought about it, so I am glad the CM hooked us up. The back seat is the best !!

DH took all of those. He takes much better photos than I do.

Day 2 – Part 3

After riding EE twice in a row with our glorious fast passes, DS and I had to get a root beer float from my favorite AK ice cream truck.

I just love the detail on this thing.

Not crowded at all – ahhh September !!

Root beer float – yummy. I hate the paper straws though. But I understand the need for them.

While we were off riding Expedition Everest, DH took DD to check out the Wilderness Explorer Activity. It was a neat little setup. You went around to all of these little stations and you would learn about animals or different cultures. It was really neat. There are 22 stations and you got a sticker for each one you went to.

I think she was able to get 4 of them. I really liked this activity and we can’t wait to have more time to check it out. DD was hilarious and kept running around saying, “The wilderness must be explored !!, caw, caw ,caw !!”

Here is one of the Wilderness Explorer Stations

DH and DD went to ride Kali River Rapids. Not fans of getting wet, DS and I just looked around and waited for them to be done.

More details – I loved all of the signs

When they got done, we headed over to Dinoland.

I thought DD wanted to ride some rides there, but she just wanted to ride Dinosaur, so DH got fastpasses and we went to Restaurantasaurus to get something to eat.

The kids each got Chicken Nuggets

DH and I shared a burger

And everyone got the chocolate mousse for dessert.

The food was good and filled us up. I liked the mousse once I got past that first weird layer.

I never noticed the light fixtures in here before. They were really cool.

OK caught up again. The Dis meet sounds like fun. I totally get the crayon and white screen meaning color. Several years ago my grandson decided permanent marker and a tile floor at church meant color too. My priest was so cool about it. Just got some paper and told Mikey to use that instead.

I love the safari ride but I swear I get more pics of animal behinds. I am thinking of starting a book - Butts of the Animal World. We had a baby giraffe at our zoo and I loved getting pics of him. He's not a baby anymore sadly.

I love EE but my DH has banned that ride this year. He is afraid of my ankle getting hurt even more or a ride breakdown and me getting stuck.

I will have to look for that cart though, I LOVE root beer floats.

It was a fun Dismeet ! The coloring was funny. You had to look close to notice it.

LOL - I know what you mean, they show their backsides a lot don't they ??

I couldn't ride the bumpy rides when I first got hurt and right after surgery. It was just too painful. I think it is the smoothest coaster in all of WDW. I have never heard of anyone getting stuck on it. It appears your DH doesn't have much faith in your luck - or that lack of it - LOL

I will have to look for that cart though, I LOVE root beer floats.

Those root beer floats are really good and so are the ones at Auntie Gravities in Tomorrowland at MK.

Those potatoes do look good! I remember your live thread updates. I need to get those somehow.

Also agree on that mousse. I hate that slimy liquidy first layer of chocolate!

I'm officially obsessed with the baby giraffes.

I think that ice cream truck would look right at home in my house. :lmao:

I like Restaurantasaurus....mainly because it's one of the only indoor eating places in Animal Kingdom.

I don't think I've ever seen that ice cream truck open. Maybe it's the time of day we pass it? :confused3

I'm with you and Danielle who said that first layer on the mousse is disgusting, but after that I am in heaven.

The Wilderness Explorer activity for kids looks like a great thing.
