I'm sure you can guess but I'll help you a bit. My name is Charity, shocking, no? I'm a 29 year old (almost 30!) wife and mother.

Let me first introduce you to the people who are most likely to show show up in my journal.

This is me!

Ok now that that part is done. I'll tell you a bit more about me.

Growing up I never had a weight problem. I was always thin but then I had kids. Being pregnant gave me permission to eat for 2 or was it 30? Well with my son I went from 130lbs to 206! That's a 76lbs gain in just 9 months!:scared1: (in 1999)

Not long after my son's birth I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My levels were funky though one minute they'd be bad the next they'd be fine so I wasn't sure the doctor knew what he was talking about. I didn't take care of myself like should. I didn't take my medication but honestly I seemed to be better and I even dropped 40lbs that first year after he was born.

So here I am at around 160lbs (in 2002) when I get pregnant with my daughter. On delivery day I weighed in at 236lbs!:scared1: Yep another 76lbs gain.:sad2:

In 2004 my husband and I decide to get married on our wedding day I was 219lbs. Not exactly what i wanted to weigh on my special day.

Here I am:

I have a hard time looking at my wedding pictures, honestly I don't like what I see. We went on our honeymoon to Disney World (my first trip) I loved this trip and it started a obsession for me and my family lol

Somehow between 2004 and 2005 I lost around 36lbs! I have to scan those pictures Its pretty crazy. And yet here I am in 2009 weighing 228.6lbs! *cries* For the longest time 2006-2008 I stayed right around 200lbs but this past spring I got my first job in 7 years! I work at our local zoo in the gift shops and restaurants. I love my job but it has got me back in the habit of drinking pop/soda and I believe that is a big contributer to my weight gain this year.

If I'm being 100% honest though, getting a job also gave me an easy excuse to take naps and not be active. I've had a membership to Gold's gym for over a year now, not thats its been used much this year.

Over this past weekend I finally found my motivation again and I went to the gym this morning. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical followed by 10 minutes on the strength training machines, ending with 20 minutes on the treadmill. I know this isn't much but I thinks it's a great start. I do plan on hitting the gym again tomorrow, working out is my first step, after cutting out soda. So right now I am going to focus on making working out a priority. I am making healthier choices as far as food goes but I am not on a specific "diet" I am just going to try making better choices.

Thanks for stopping by my journal Charity! You're right....baby weight just sneaks up on you!

Good luck to you this week!

GOALS:

  • Drink at minimum 64oz of water daily
  • No eating after 8pm
  • Work out for a minimum of 30 minutes, 3 times a week
  • Lose 1-2 lbs each week

These are just the beginning for me.

Starting weight: 228.6

Tuesdays accomplishments:

Went to the gym for 40 minutes (10 min on elliptical, 10 min circuit strength training, 20 min on treadmill):jumping3:

Drank 3 liters of water:drinking1

Didn't over eat

No Soda (days 3):woohoo:

Well I did 30 minutes on the treadmill today. Kind of slow on my water at this point I have probably done half of what i need to do. Eating I'm not doing too bad, except I am snacking on Nerds...the hard candy by Wonka... so yummy but probably not a great choice.

Woke up to my kids screaming "Mittens has a rat!!" Jump out of bed and our black kitten has indeed caught a mouse and a small one at that...lol What a way to wake up...

Best of effort to you Charity! I gave up soda (was a diet Coke addict) in July and haven't had any since. I also have the hypothyroid issues, but my labs are always low, but still in the normal range, and it's been difficult to get a doctor to prescribe Amour for it (I had a 30 day trial and I'd never felt better in my whole entire life during those 30 days!). Don't ignore the thyroid problems, you can't effectively lose the weight and maintain a healthy weight without dealing with it.

We have three tuxedo cats, and the last time they cornered a mouse in the house they decided to adopt it. (I called my husband to come home mid-day from work and dispatch it--I didn't have the heart.) Some "top predators" we've got. Be happy your kitten takes it P.E.T. job seriously (pest eradication technician.)

One small step at a time,
Laurie
