Just wondering we are staying at ASM, and upon check in, if I give them say $1000.00 extra cash, will that allow me to charge that back to my room? Where on site can't you charge to your room, how bout other resort restaraunts?

I wouldn't give anyone extra money. If you have the cash and don't want to carry it, deposit it into your bank account and charge to your bank card or, what we did, was to get travelers cheques(no charge for them at AAA)and we brought a certain amount each day with us to the parks and locked the rest in the room safe. Worked out great, limited our spending, and we went home with over $600 that we hadn't spent!!

Can the cash idea. If you have a credit card, they will swipe it and then at the end of your stay you will get a detailed statement from the front desk. They will bill your credit card upon check-out. Or use the travelers checks. You can charge just about anything on your room account. All the restaurants will let you but not the little ice cream/pop carts throughout the parks.

The problem is I do not use credit cards at all. SO will they accept cash so I can use the room charge feature.

I am not sure about the Disney Dollar thing. I cannot see why they wouldn't accept them. Also, I would check with the resort you are staying at about the cash policy thing. Heck, they accept personal checks!! Give them a call and post it here!

I've given both Coronado Springs and All Stars' front desks Disney Dollars so that I could charge to my room, so I assume they would take "real" cash, too!

they do take cash, I have done it before, the thing is though, not all CM's know that you can do cash, the one that checked me in tried to tell me I couldn't do that, I said I knew I could and they found someone who could help me.

Question about the vendors: do they accept Disney Dollars, or just cash?

The carts do accept Disney Dollars. At MGM I got a $2 drink and paid with a $20 in Disney Dollars, and $18 back in change (US dollars). Everywhere in Disney from the smallest vendor to the poshest restaurant accepts them. ::yes::

We just got back 2 days ago (WE HAD SO MUCH FUN). While waiting in line to buy some popcorn and pop the man in front of me wanted to use his room charge. The CM said that within 2 weeks they would be set up to take room charges at the small food carts. Just thought that I would let everyone know.

This was the first year that we used the room charging. I gave guest services my Disney Visa and all of the charges went to that and when I got home I used the money saved for vacation to pay the credit card. This way I get the points for next time!!:teeth:

kman1011, even if you don't use credit cards, do you have one (you don't have to answer online of course)? If you do, you can have them swipe the card as suggested. Then every day or two, stop by guest services and pay the amount charged to the room with you cash, this way the amount never actually hits your credit card. We did this once, when three people were contributing to the room charges and it was pretty easy to do.

Of course, I have also done the cash thing. One thing to note at the All-Stars is that even though you give them $1000 up front, the may credit it to the room key in installments. The way it worked for me is that I gave $800. $300 showed up on the room key immediately. When I spent that much, another $300 was added to the card, and so on. It was a little confusing at first, but I finally got a CM who understoof how it worked.

WAIT!!!

I understand you don't use CC, but you are going to carry $1,000 in CASH!!!! I think you are a thiefs dream come true. If someone steals your money before you get to the front desk at the resort what are you going to do then. I urge you to either get Traveler's checks or use a debit card. Also, AAA now sells a prepaid Visa and they usually will take a check if you go by during your bank hours.

I hadn't heard of the prepaid visa ..thanks for the good tip!:wave2:

I just bought the AAA visa gift card. Thanks for the tip...this way I will be forced to stick to my budget! Also, there is protection if it is lost or stolen, just like traveler's checks!:bounce:
