I normally have used my room key as a charge card while at WDW, but this time my DMIL? got us reservations via rental DVC points system...whatever...at SSR. I paid her for my share of the villa/price. So, is there a way for Disney to give me a room key, with a credit/debit card connected just to my card? Since we are staying this way? I'v always liked being able to leave my cards at the hotel. I feel safer bringing in a Disney card that can be replaced.

I'm not entirely sure what your question is but maybe this will help:
  • A KTTW card can be tied to a credit card and used anywhere in WDW that accepts charges.
  • A KTTW card can also be restricted so it won't have charging privileges - i.e. it will only open the door (and have admission if that's what you buy).
  • It is not necessary for all the KTTW cards to work the same way so you can mix and match.

Does that help?

If you are all staying in the same villa there is only one card that is tied to the room; that is determined at check-in.

(Side note: Keys To The Kingdom (KTTK) is a tour, Key To The World (KTTW) is the room key.)

However, each KTTW has a different serial number, and on the folio each charge to a KTTW show which KTTW was used. Prior to check-out you can get a copy of the folio, and those charges which you are responsible for can be paid directly at the front desk by a different card.

Of course you are right CF. I guess my fingers were flying too fast in my response. I'll got back and edit it. :thumbsup2

OK I wasn't sure how the whole thing worked. So, even if I'm staying in the same Villa as my family, I can have a credit card tied to just my KTTW card...right? I hope so, I prefer doing that.

Or do I have to pay after? Normally, I hav had a cc linked to KTTW card, so when I check-out, they've already charged me for my purchases.

We rented DVC points and stayed with family last year. At both DVC resorts we could only have one cc linked to our KTTW card. However, we were able to restrict the number of cards with charging privileges. I needed to use the internet for school, so my SIL was fine with using her own cc instead of charging to the room. Only my KTTW had charging privileges, which was linked to my cc at check-in. Hope that makes sense.

Yes it does, I don't know what my family is planning to do, but if none of them are planning to use the KTTW card for charging privileges, I will want to. I actually kind of hope they don't :cutie: Thanks so much!

Did you have to pay for internet since you rented points? I heard DVC members get internet for free.

You may or may not get free internet. Tech you will not qualify and if charged will have no recourse. Since the last computer upgrade there have been reports that multiple charge cards can be used.

I did have to pay for internet. When we went in Dec 2010, DVC members could get it for free but not those of us who were renting their points. I think it was around $10 per 24 hr period. I would log on about 4:00 pm and was able to use it that evening and the next morning for one charge.

Actually, my DD is a Front Desk CM and was a trainer for the new Lilo system and she says that they can now have different credit cards tied to different KTTW cards for each room. If you get a CM that can't do this ask for a manager or someone who is more informed.

yay!!!!!!

We stayed at the Treehouses in July and they were able to link KTTW cards with separate credit cards. One word of caution, you might want to check after a couple of days and make sure they're workng correctly. After a few days of charging, they told me I was over my limit :scared1: (which I pre-increased upon check in). I know that I charge alot, but didn't do that much damage already!

We went to the front desk and all charges were going onto our card. They were able to fix it in about 10 minutes or so. Apparently the names/cards were linked, but there's a system glitch that required some manual manipulation. I was just glad that we caught it before checkout. Sorting through that mess manually would have been a nightmare!
