Hi! Where do you charge your wheelchair in the parks? Do you need to go back to your hotel to charge it? What if you run out of energy? What do you do then?

Thanks,

Ashley

If you have a power chair you should have more than enough battery power for a full day. Similarly, if you have a full-size (including rental) ECV whould shold have more than enough power for a day.

I currently use a smaller than normal ECV with small batteries (a Pride Go-Go) and I am at/above the weight limit. When going to eat I will usually be able to find an outlet in a counter service location or I will ask in a table service and then park the ECV plugged into the outlet and walk to the table to counter.

If you have a rental with a defective battery normally you can call and they will meet you within an hour with a different ECV.

A couple of years ago I got a flat front tire deep in the Studios on my own ECV. A manager contacted the park's scooter rental and someone camew with a rental for me at no charge, and walked my ECV back to the scooter rental. When I was leaving, I turned in the loaner and walked mine out to the car.

My DD's power wheelchair has more than enough power for a day. Most have a range of at leat 10 miles.
Of you do think you may need to plug in during the day, bring your power cord/transformer with you. You can just ask in any restaurant and there are also some links to threads about locations of power outlets in the parks.

I use a scooter which normal range is 20 miles. often though instead of bringing into home when returning from WDW, i may need to recharge the next day while at the parks.

I really never have a problem finding an outlet. So i find a place to eat, find an outlet nearby, and plug in. I have found very few times the outlet I chose wasn't active.

near first aid/baby centers, restaurants even counter services, even in some buildings such as Interventions at Epcot.

If you need to recharge while at the parks shouldn't have much trouble finding an outlet. Just plan it so while its charging you can do something like eat, watch a show, or for me i sometimes use that time to just rest. I have done this several times by going into First Aid where its AC, plug in, and sit in one of their comfy chairs, close my eyes, rest then I am ready to go agian, and scooter recharged.

good luck
