Can anyone tell me about the character meals offered at the Portofino? What is up with them not knowing what characters will be there? I am a Disney person and am used to the character list for a particular character meal being set. I am also wondering where to meet Spiderman either at a character meal or in the parks. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Terri

We did the Character Meal with Spiderman at Confiscos on Friday, August 6.

It was wonderful. There were exactly 6 families in the entire restaurant. This gave us lots of time with each of the characters. Actually, it almost started getting rather boring. After an hour, Spidey and the others had visited each table numerous times. We had enough pictures and ran out of things to say to him:D Just FYI, we had the earliest seating. As we were finishing breakfast, more families started coming in. So, while still not crowded, there probably wasn't as much one-on-one time with the characters.

But I have to say that the breakfast was the highlight of our vacation, just because of one of Spidey's tricks. Our table was up against the "fake wall" with arches that separates two sections. Spidey had snuck into the restaurant and was crouching on the wall right next to our table, staring at our kids. He was inches from my DS14's back. It took DS a few minutes to realize somebody was there, but when he turned around he came face-to-face (inches) with a crouching Spidey. It is always fun to see your teen jump several feet out of his chair.

BTW - the 4 characters there were Grinch, Cat in the Hat, Spiderman and Rogue. Grinch and the Cat were first and then took a break and Spiderman and Rogue came out. Rogue actually sat down at our table and joined us for part of our breakfast.

So, if you want serious face time with Spiderman, do the Confisco's breakfast and do it early:Pinkbounc

WOW......... my little one would have a fit!!! He is spidey crazy!!! On our trip in Sept. we will have to do this.

What time did you actually go?? Do you need to make priority resv. like at disney? Do I call confisco's or who to make a resv? Sorry for so many ???'s, but my little one will be so excited about this!!!!

Thanks ~

Hi Wendypooh,

We had the 9:00am seating. We just went to IOA as soon as it opened and walked into Confiscos.

We did have priority seating reservations (which you are supposed to have), but when we got there, they didn't even look at their book. They just asked us how many and seated us. I told them we had reservations and the hostess just smiled. Like I said, it was absolutely dead in the restaurant, and the parks were maxed out. They were definitely seating walk-ins.

But to be safe, you probably should have reservations. I made mine through the dining number on the Universal site. Just take the earliest seating, because that is when everybody is trying to get on the early rides.

Hope this helps. Any more questions, just ask.
