Last trip we did-

Ohana breakfast.
Crystal Palace dinner
Tusker House lunch
Garden Grill dinner
Hollywood & Vine Disney jr/Fantasmic dinner
T Rex
Be Our Guest breakfast
Spirit of Olaha dinner show
Rainforest Cafe dinner

I realize that the last 4 are not character meals..but son loved the 'experience' of each.

He still talks about BOG

I'd like to do Chef Mickey's and 1900 park fare next time..and Ohana again..with a BOG dinner.

He constantly asks about the castle and a girl at school just came back and said that she 'got to go eat in the castle!' So now he's asking me if I'll take him. Lol

Would it be strange to take a boy to Cinderella's Royal Table? I think he'd love the "castle" part of it. And when I told him it was with princess's I thought he'd change his mind- nope.

Nah, I've seen the Princesses react with boys and men and it can be just as engaging. Akershus was pretty fun when Cinderella told a little boy that he needs to work on his manners if he was ever going to be someones Prince Charming. (The kid burped as she came to the table).

If he wants to go, take him! The highlight of my DS2s trip last year was getting the sword at CRT. And this year at 3, almost 4, he wants to meet Elsa. The princesses will interact with him or not, taking their cues from him (DS last year had no interest in meeting most of the characters so they just interacted with my DDs).

And as for 1900 park fare.. Is the breakfast a mix of boys and girls? I'd like to try a few new places..and it seems like everything left is very 'girly'. We will be doing whispering canyon for lunch, no characters, but looks like a fun experience.

I haven't done 1900 Park Fare. The breakfast is Alice, Tigger, Pooh, Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins. So that is more general neutral. Dinner is Cinderella and family.

Not a character meal but we took our boys in October (6 and 4) to Sanaa after our AK day and they loved the atmosphere. We had a window table which was nice but not necessary and after dinner went out to use the night vision goggles to see the animals. They loved that.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with a boy wanting to eat in the castle or meet the Princesses!! If he wants to meet the Princesses, let him meet the Princesses. Maybe he just thinks they're pretty. But even if there's something deeper, there is ZERO wrong with that.

My guess - based on seeing this situation play out over and over again while I worked at the Disney Store (a boy would be berated for wanting to look at the Princess stuff while parents wouldn't bat an eye if their girl-child came running over with something from Cars) - is that if this was a daughter and it was a Cars-themed meal there wouldn't even be a question about "is it weird to take her". The double standard makes me so sad.

Do the castle!!! My two year old thought getting a sword was the coolest thing and liked to talk to the princesses. The wishing ceremony isn't geared to one gender either.

Thanks all!! So we'll do it :)
Now which time of day do you think is best, breakfast lunch or dinner?
My main complaint with Crystal Palace was, even with reservations, we waited @ 45 minutes to be seated. Since this time is such a short trip I definitely don't want something like that to happen again.

We are doing CRT with a 7 year old and 2 year old boy. They are okay with it since they good swords (hopefully at the end of the meal). (and heck, I want to eat at the castle! (no girls, and I've never done it). We are going in August.

DS likes Teppen Edo too. Not character meal, but likes it. He also wants to do 1900 Park Fare again. I guess he liked the kisses?

Nope, not strange at all. I have three boys and we have done 1900 PF and CRT a couple times. They didn't have a particular interest in princesses before going and now they all love them. My 7 year old proudly proclaims that Cinderella is his favorite and he thinks he's the only boy who has a favorite princess.

ETA: The boys loved the swords at CRT but one wanted a wand instead. ODS brought his own sword and when Ariel saw he had two she challenged him to a sword fight. It was a highlight of his trip.

This was so great to hear!! My friends (with boys only) think I'm nuts.lol

Unfortunately, that can happen pretty much anywhere. Our first time at CP we had a wait like that and I swore I'd never go there again. We've been there at least 5 times since and never had that problem again. But we've had random other places where we've had really long waits as well.

Also, I'm planning on doing the Pirate League, (since we'll already have a pirate costume from the cruise). We will be doing BBB on the ship for pirate night, so do you think this is redundant? I thought it might be cute on a day that we do CRT
Not very Prince like..but could be a good, and different, photo opp..lol

1900 Park Fare for dinner is Cinderella and family, but the Tremanes are hysterical!!! My teenage boys were thoroughly embarrassed and I LOVED it!!! They make such a big deal over the boys there!

Sci-Fi is another non-character but a lot of fun for the "experience". Whispering Canyon for dinner as well. Lots of antics and fun.

We're doing whispering canyon for lunch.. Will that be just as entertaining?
