When you are at a character meal buffet do worry about missing the characters while you are up getting food? I worry that while my family and I are up or even me and my little ones that we may miss the characters. What has been your experinces with this? Is this the reason people prefer Ohana? Ohana seems cool but I do not like the foos selection (pretty simple).

Thanks

No worries if we see them clear across the room we go get r food. They make they rounds to get to everybody. I have been to Chef Mickeys to many time to count for bk & din. and to the other character meals. They r all good.

Ohana is conveinent for people who do not like to be running around but I agree food is ok. Most charcter meals seem to have a pattern that the characters move so we kind of time are runs to the buffet to be back in time. Some seem to say buffet character meals are loud, hectic and a free for all but having a DD 3 and DD 6mos. getting them up and moving around is something they love and they enjoy waving on their way by to the characters. Some think chef mickeys is very loud and hectic where tusker house seems to be a lil more laid back but all are loud with excitement and movement by lil ones.

Garden Grill is another that you dont have to leave the table.

So was Liberty Tree but no characters there anymore:sad1:

At CM, you will see the flow. They don't change the pattern as they go around the room. Our server also told us who was coming next and the flow. When we were there, we saw 2 of the characters twice - we stayed a little longer.

I don't know about CM, but when we were at the CP, we'd just keep an eye out. You can see the pattern that they make, so when there's a character a couple tables away it's safe for a quick trip, but that's about it. If they're close, just wait and head off right after they leave your table.

I just wanted to add that at every character breakfast we've been too (CP and Tusker, both multiple times) the server has said that if we miss a character, or the character doesn't make it to our table before we're ready to leave, to let them know and they will make sure the character comes by. :)

Just look at meal time at the buffets as being another WDW attraction...get up and you food before the characters come around...oh, and try to chew and swallow before taking the picture with the characters. The CMs are pretty great about letting you know where the characters are, which way they are moving, and when they should be to your table. I have even seen characters backtrack to a table if no one was there.

If you pay attention and a little common sense and you shouldn't miss the characters. The normally go around the room in order so as not to miss a table. So when you see them across the room go and get your food and like wise when they're getting close to you stay seated. Now my brother uses that theory in reverse so that he misses them. Also if you happen to miss on or they miss you let your server know they can normally get them at your table with no problem. If you are have a problem getting to see one of the characters just let it be know that your not leaving no matter how long you have to sit there until you see them. That might sound rude but at CM a couple of years ago Mickey keep skipping our table, we told the waiter twice and Mickey still didn't stop at our table so the third time we said we weren't leaving till we saw him and he was at our table in less then 2 mins. So hope that helps.
