We are new to US/IOA. Could you tell us about the character meals offered?? Where are they? What characters are there?? What kind of food is there?? How good is it?? Price?? We have tried to look it up but there isn't much info. Thanks!!! :flower3:

The only character meal we've done was breakfast at Confisco Grille in IoA. the food wasn't bad...it was a buffet setup with normal breakfast offerings. The characters we saw were Spiderman and Cat in the Hat. spiderman spent a good bit of time at the table talking to my boys who at the time were 5 and 13. I don't remember if Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there....they may have been.....I will have to check the pics! would I recommend it? IDK.... I wasn't blown away by it but then again, I'm not a huge spiderman fan....cat in the hat was cool though!

Just checked pics....Thing 1 and Thing 2 were not there. Just remembered that Scooby and Shaggy make appearances at Islands Dining Restaurant in RPR....we've ate there last trip and food was good. You would have to call for info on their appearances....they might just show up certain nights during certain meal times.

Thing 1 and 2 were there at our Spidey breakfast in Nov 08
It was prety empty in there and Spidey spent a ton of time talking to my boys
They loved it

I've never done a character breakfast at Universal, but from what I've read, the characters are walking around the park regularly. So from the people that have been there, is it even worth it to go to the character breakfast when you can just see them in the parks? :confused3

We went character hunting 3 weeks ago. We found Thing 1 & 2, Cat in the Hat and others in Dr. Seussland. Thing 1 & 2 and the Cat in the Hat were at the Confisco Grill. We found the Marvel characters except for Spiderman. We got Spiderman at Confisco Grill. He did spend time with our kids for which I really liked.

Yes, you can find them outside of the character breakfast but it may take a little effort and being at the right area at the right time. But I find that being at the character breakfast can also be a little hard; they're not quite as organized as Disney- we had to speak up because Spiderman missed our table. We left also left just after Thing 1 & 2 did rounds again but before they reached us; they all don't arrive right after each other. It was a good 40-50 min. before Thing 1 &Thing 2 came around, and then Cat in the Hat disappeared.

Other than the green eggs and ham sandwich, breakfast wasn't anything special. There were fruit and pastries, bacon, sausages and finger waffles. Gratuity is already included at 18%( a lot for a buffet) you couldn't tip how you wanted to.

Also did the Scooby Doo character dinner at RPR. Didn't know it at the time, but there are 2 restaurants, right across from each other- Aloha and Jake's. Apparently Scooby Doo went back and forth between the two. Shaggy wasn't with him. We were "assigned" Aloha, if I had known we would have gone to Jake's which I believe is a casual restaurant and so probably cheaper? Aloha's food was very good, but costwise I would have gone with Jake's. I'd check the menus of both Aloha and Jake's if you want a meal with Scooby Doo. We also saw him at IoA and Universal with Shaggy so he's not a hard character to get.
