Hi Fans.....This being our first time to WDW, I have a question which probably seems "ridickerous", but being that we have never been, I don't know the answer, and was hoping you could fill us in .... When you go to the character dinners/bkfst, do the characters actually talk to the kids?? We are planning to go see
the Winnie the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace, and well....tigger just wouldn't be tigger without a few of his wonderful expressions. Anyone who has been to this one, please let me know how it was - likes/dislikes etc. Thanks for your insights!!

hi! Winnie the Pooh and friends don't talk. They do communicate though with hand motions etc. There are characters that talk these are called face characters such as Cinderella, Peter Pan etc. They don't have a costume mask over there face.

Have fun on your trip We liked the Crystal Palace!

The only characters that will talk are the "face" characters. In other words, those that do not have to wear a mask or full head. Some of these are Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice, etc

The characters in animal costumes don't talk. All the "people" characters do. So if you have breakfast at Cinderella's castle, the princesses will talk with your child. But Pooh and the gang are silent.

Even though they don't talk they are still very much in character. Tigger has been known to steal a child's hat and play keep-away or take a child's hand and go "hopping" down the isle of the resturant. Piglet somehow manages to come across very bashful.

This is one of my kids favorite Character meals. Hope you enjoy it.

Even though the characters don't talk my DD reacts to them as if they do talk. The way they gesture things to the kids, the kids can somehow always know what they are trying to say. My DD has never said to me "why don't the characters talk?". She is getting older now, she will be 6 this trip, and she is becoming alot more inquistive about everything and I am sure this topic will come up. But until then, I am going to just sit back and watch the magic.:wizard:

P.S. Good choice on The Crystal Palace. DD loved this and so did we. The buffet is absolutly wonderful!!! We haven't returned in 3 yrs because everytime we go to WDW we try different restaurants, but this year I think we will return to The Crystal Palace. They have a tiny kids buffet that my DD will finally be able to visit by herself, this will make her feel like a really big girlprincess: HAVE FUN!!!!

Yes, the costumed characters definitely act their parts even thought they don't actually talk. When Tigger came to our table, he picked up my DD's stuffed Eeyore and proceeded to play catch with it with Pooh. We all got a big kick out of it. We also ate at Garden Grill in Epcot, where Pluto, in his playful way, had a ticking contest with DS. Actually, our least "fun" character meal was CRT, with the talking face characters. They were really neat to see and were nice to the kids but not in the fun way that the costumed characters were.

PS: We too loved our dinner at CP. The buffet was very good and had a great variety of foods.

The Mad Hatter at 1900 Park Fair at the GF was the best. Mary Poppins was also very sweet.
