We're going for our first trip on thursday! I can't wait! A few quick questions - do you think there's any chance of getting reservations for a character breakfast this late in the game? We're thinking Crystal Palace, Restaurant Akershus or Playhouse Disey at Hollywood and Vine. Second, if we have a reservation for breakfast before the park opens, do we need tickets to that park for the day? We weren't planning on visiting Epcot, but if we can get reservations for the Princess breakfast, we'd like to go to the breakfast, but not the park. Thanks!

1-877-939-3732, give them a call, couldn't hurt to try. i can tell ya i got cape may breakfast ressies the day b-4 we wanted them 3 weeks ago. as for park admission, you must have admission to the park.

except maybe a little long distance charge. You will probably have some difficulty with Askerhus and Crystal Palace before the park opens. But if you read these boards enough you will see a larger number than I expected changing ADRs and others having luck with even some of the most difficult ADRs shortly before a trip due to cancellations.. Try a couple of times before you leave, be flexible and talk to the guest services people at your resort when you arrive.

Some that you haven't mentioned that I am familiar with is Chef Mickey's and Ohana's. There are character meals at other resorts also. This past summer we had to change our date of departure by a day and had to change the Chef Mickey's date also. I didn't have a problem getting a later ADR. CM is our final meal on the day we depart so we usually eat around 9:45. Many people don't like that time because they want to be in the parks.

as pp mentioned, many are able to get Cape May on short notice and I think it's really nice for character interaction--lots of attention!

If you are willing to eat later in the morning and call it "brunch" then you might be okay to get an ADR. For the three you mentioned you'll definitly need park admission regardless of the time. For one that you don't and we loved (though it might be tough to get at this point) is Chef Mickey's......very fun! And if you happen to get a late reservation and they are starting to clear out for the next meal (ie the break between breakfast and dinner) the characters sometimes are able to spend more time at your table. Mickey sat down with us and we had a long "conversation" :) Even if it says breakfast and dinner only ask about a possible lunch because sometimes they put on lunch during busy time periods.

Let us know what happens!! Have fun! :wizard:

Not go to Epcot?

You need park admission to dine in any theme park. If you have a park hopper, you should be all set, whether you change your mind and stay for a while or not. Without a park hopper, you're in Epcot all day.

If you are flexible w/ your dining times, you may get something. Don't be disappointed if you can't though...

Yes, you need a ticket to get in for the character breakfast if it's in a park.

I love Crystal Palace. You will need park admission to get in. If you have park hopper you can go have breakfast at one park and hop over to another. I love Epcot and think it shouldn't be missed, and there are things there that kids would like. (I know CP is at Magic Kingdom) Also check 1900 Park Fare, it's got great characters and is outside of the parks.

I would definitely try Cape May at the BC. You don't need park admission and I found the character interaction to be wonderful. I have been several times since the first and like it better than other breakfasts - though I haven't tried Boma's which I will try in just 19 days!!! When I was there during free dining this fall we were able to get last minute ADRs there without a problem.

If you're going to AK, you could try for Donald's Safari breakfast. You get Mickey, Goofy, Donald and  Daisy. Very goog food and lots of fun with Donald. It's also usually easier to get than CP or CM.

Thank you all so much!!! You're so helpful! I didn't even know about the character breakfasts at the resorts. Does anyone know if Darby from My Friends Tiger and Pooh is at the Crystal Palace? Is she elsewhere in the park? My kids really want to see her.

According to wdwautographs.com (a very cool website and a DIS member to boot!) she was spotted this month at Pooh's Thoughtful Spot in the Magic Kingdom. You can ask at Guest relations in the park when you go in if she's around.

Oh, yes, I would definitely suggest Cape May Cafe for a great character breakfast. When we were there this past summer, we went down to our ADR and loved the breakfast and the character interaction. We were going to do a quick breakfast the following morning, but DD16 put in that we shoud be doing Cape May again for breakfast since that is her favorite meal of the day. We called down to see about ADRs and got right in with no problem. I think it must be one of WDW's most hidden gems!!!

I did see Darby in November. I didn't meet her though. The people I was traveling with, weren't willing to wait the twenty minutest to see her. She greets by Pooh's Playful spot, on the 20-30 minute rotation with Pooh and Tigger. She isn't at Crystal Palace, and won't be most likely. It's small and I've been there a few times where the characters all got backed up and were all at the same table.
