Character Breakfast, Island Jam or table visits?

Just wondering if anyone coming off the recent 7-day cruises can give insight on the character breakfast.

Is it the Island Jam show style or the visit to the tables?
Also, what characters are typically there?

Thanks so much!! I was just reading up on it and was confused as to if it had been changed back or not.

:thumbsup2

Was on the Magic last week (October 30-Nov 6).

The characters came to your table for pictures and autographs.

I believe our characters were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip and Dale. I don't remember the ducks being present but we did leave a little early since my camera batteries died and we were done with breakfast.

I think the Island Jam was a short-lived experiment that failed in early 2008.

There were enough complaints that DCL quickly changed it back to the traditional style (more like Chef Mickeys). We had the traditional style CB on our cruise in August 2008 and I haven't heard any talk of the Island Jam since then.

Thanks so much!!! that's what I was hoping to hear. :thumbsup2

If you don't mind my asking, when did you find out when you were assigned for the breakfast?

Thanks again!

It was listed on the little ticket you get in your stateroom that said what your dining rotation was. It also listed when you were scheduled for your character breakfast.

We were also on the Magic last week. The day of our character breakfast was on our dining ticket in our stateroom.

I know two had their CB on At Sea days. Are they usually on days at sea or do they have them every day? I also understand they are always in the Parrot, does this correlate to the days you are assigned to eat dinner in that dining room or does dinner rotation not have any relation to the CB? Thanks

they have them three days on the cruise on the eastern all three days will be sea days,on the western one of the days will be a port day. you are assigned a character breakfast on one of the days 0800 for main dining 0945 for late dining

Eastern is sea days - ours was scheduled for a Thursday - but at dinner Sunday evening we were told that ours was changed to Monday - We received a new ticket for Monday morning.

Not sure why they did the switch - especially the night before at dinner - which not everyone attends -

But anyway - the characters do come to your table - with their escort - Ours was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale. It does take them a while to get around, so be patient - all Characters do stop at every table.

We selected first dining for dinner, so that means we'd have first dining for breakfast? Can that be changed? Just because I want first dining for dinner doesn't mean I want it for breakfast :(

Dopeyfanatic -

I don't believe that you can change them independently since they divide guests and assign them tables the same for both. (Meaning our table was #16 for dinner and breakfast and we had the same family as eating partners for both).

You can always ask on ship though - when you get on board go right to one of the lounges - either Diversions or Rockin Bar D (on Magic) - wherever they are doing dining changes / reservations.

So glad you can get photos with charactors we went on 7 night in 2007 they just danced was so dissapointed as they had nice outfits on but no photos they must have had a lot of complaints me for one :cool1::cool1:

The first dining is only for your character breakfast, just one day, all of the other days you can go to breakfast whenever you like.

It's this way because it's your same serving team at the CB as it is for the evening meals. There are two sittings for the CB just like in the evening. The reason they only do this on the 7-night cruises is that those cruises have three "free" mornings on Sea Days/Key West. Each of the three different dining rotations go to Parrot Cay on one of three separate days. It would be unfair to have the late diners be the first one at breakfast in the morning IMO - not to mention it being a logistical nightmare! And if you choose to eat at the MDR's on debarkation day, you'll have early breakfast that day too. This is another reason we like late seating.

Anyway, as a PP said, just ask your head server and he may be able to switch you if there is an empty table at the late dining. You may not get your same serving team though which is one of the benefits of the character breakfast IMO.

On one of our cruises, we had an issue and ended up changing our serving team to a different rotation. This caused us to miss our CB. Our son really wanted to go, so the head server was able to get us a table. It was a little awkward as the new serving team wasn't sure what to do at first with the "strange" new guests who just showed up. They did a great job, but it wasn't quite the same had it been our normal serving team.

Except for the final morning - there are two rotations for breakfast on debarkation day.

However, you can choose to skip the CB or official debarkation breakfast altogether and just go to Topsiders.
