We are making our first trip to WDW in June. Its my husband and I and DS14 and DD11. Would it be worth us to have a character breakfast/dinner or will my kids be bored?

Thanks.
Jen

I think people of all ages can enjoy a character meal, it just depends on what your kids are into. Lots of folks love CP with the Pooh characters, but my kids aren't really into them anymore, even at 5 and 8. But they still like the traditional disney characters so we tend to go with Chef Mickeys or places like that (we are going to the TH breakfast this time).

My guess is that your son and probably your daughter are not into princesses, but 1900 PF has a cinderella and stepsister meal they might like. Their breakfast also tends to have a variety of characters not at other meals. Another good options might be the Lilo and Stich breakfast at Ohana since they tend to skew a bit older.

Hopefully someone with kids the age of yours can give you some more feedback.

We always try to reserve the character breakfast at the Contemporary (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto). There's never a dull moment- the characters are always somewhere and it's great pic opportunities. Great food too (those Mickey waffles are the best:thumbsup2 )

I loved Cinderella's Royal Table when I was 17 because it was so neat being able to eat in the castle, plus it looks so neat inside.

The "show" with the step mother and sisters @ 1900 PF was FANTASTIC. They interact with each other and the guests.
Maybe it is the kid in me, but dining with the fab 5 and Pooh and friends was a lot of fun...ok, so we did have DD3 & DS5 with us. The good thing about having older children is that they may not care as much about seeing each character, so if you are finished eating you can go rather than have to wait for that one last one.
50s PT is fun too...good interaction, but not childish.
Plenty of ppl enjoy Sci-FI (we didn't ), but reviews are better for lunch.
RFC is fun, but OOP. T-Rex seem to get good reviews too.
Coral Reef had wonderful steak (cut with a fork tender) and it is fun to watch the fish. 9 Dragons was wonderful.
Boma was also good.
O'Hana breakfast with Stitch was fun. We had early ADRs so there was very good character interaction. Even for the big kids!

My DH and I (ages 56 and 51) go every year by ourselves. We took our oldest son in 2000 for his high school graduation with his then girlfriend and they had a blast. Go for it...the kids will have a good time.
