According to the Member Guidebook, if I where to change a reservation 31 days or more prior to arrival, and the new booking required fewer reservation points. The excess points will be restored to my account in the appropriate year.

What I am not clear about, is if I had to borrow points to make the first booking and then changed to a resorts, which required less points. Would the remaining borrowed points be returned to there original use year or would they stay in the current use year?

Thanks,

They become current use year points when the are borrowed, therefore, they would return to the current use year and could not be banked.

If you only borrowed part of the points for the first reservation, MS will use those first in the new reservation. I believe they take banked and borrowed points first, then current year points in making a reservation.

JimC,

Just to Clarify. If I had borrowed 50 pts. They would use the 50 borrowed points first for the new reservation so any excess pts. would be current use year pts. which I could bank into the following year.

Sorry if I seem a bit slow with this I just want to make sure if I change a reservation I don't get stuck with pts. I may be unable to use.

Thanks for your patience.

Regards, Dom

This is correct, they should use the borrowed points for the reservation, allowing you to bank the excess number of points \, form the current use year.

Just to follow-up, that is correct but you do need to be specific. Tell them to use banked points first. I also make it a habit now to end each call with a review of my points (I have more than one home resort and have borrowed and than done what you are doing). Usually what they tell me is right but occassionally it takes a few minutes to straighten out. Sooner is definetly better than later.

Happy travels
Sandy
