Is changing resorts during the middle of your stay really a pain? I have 2 first timers and both have picked a place they want to stay. My mom wants to stay at the Grand Floridian and my best friend wants to stay at the Boardwalk. I am wondering if this takes up too much time from your trip and is a hassle? Any info from those who have changed resorts would be greatly appreciated!!:)

I am also changing resort in the middle of our stay in disney. I hope it's not too much of a hassle. I'd also would like to know to the OP's questions. Thanks.

It's a gamble. It's great when the transition is smooth and quick. It's a pain when it it is slow. No way to tell. Both resorts are Gr8 with alot to offer. If you have a little patience and are willing to be flexible, I'd reccomend multiple stays. If you are impatient, I'd say no. There are no guarentees, decide what's important.

I really love changing resorts--it's fun to get to try two resorts on one trip to me. As a matter of fact, I usually change resorts (unless it's a short trip), I have changed from the GF to the BWI before, and it was not a pain in the least. We just called the bellstaff, they came up and took our luggage, we drove over to the BWI and checked in, and our room was ready. If your room isn't ready, the resort will store your luggage for you until it is. Also, if you don't have a car, I have heard that the resorts will take care of moving your luggage for you.

We just did this in January. We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for 3 nights and moved to the GF for 4 more. It was pretty easy. We packed up our stuff and put it in our car. Then we headed off to Animal Kingdom for the morning. We got to the GF around 1pm and our room was ready (I had requested early check in). If you have a car I recommend transporting your own luggage. I have heard that if you let Disney do it, you usually don't get your bags until after 4pm. Have fun!

We recently changed resorts without any problems! When we checked in at POR we explained that after our 5 night stay we were going to be staying at AKL. We were told to call Bell Services the day before our move. We informed Bell Services that we would like them to pick up our luggage in our room at 8 am. The next morning they arrived at 8 am and marked all of our bags that were being sent to AKL and told us to explain at AKL when we arrived that our luggage had been sent from POR.
We enjoyed our day at MGM and took the bus to AKL arriving around 5:30 pm. No problems checking in, we went to our room and called Bell Services and explained we had arrived and our luggage had been transferred from POR - they promptly brought us our bags! No problems, everything went without a hitch! I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, the only pain was unpacking again and getting things re-situated in our new resort took some time!
