Next week my 7 month window will open up. I have three reservations for three nights each at my home resort, but will be changing (hopefully) to the three monorail DVCs. I will be doing it online and just want to make sure I know what I'm doing.
1st - double check that the reservation is available
2nd - cancel the reservation at my home resort
3rd - make a new reservation at my desired resort.
4th - wait three days and do it again.

I just want to make sure there's not an easier/quicker way of doing it. I know I could call MS and have them do it, but have been advised to get the extra hour online jump time to get one of the more difficult resorts.

TIA

Look for threads on the double browser or double window method. It is essentially your plan, but mostly removes the risk of cancelling one before you can book another.
I found it to be really easy to do once I read the directions.

You need to make sure that your three reservations weren't linked to make one reservation. Unless they are in different booking categories.

The two browser method is definitely the way to go. I used it for the first time this morning and it worked like a charm.

I have the three reservations listed in different names because of wonderful advice I received from this board! Thanks for checking though :)

I will use the two browser method - thanks for the information. I've never done that and haven't even read about it before. I love these boards!

As others has mentioned do the two browser method which means grab the new room before canceling the old ressi. But follow the instructions as there are always risks.

Poly is going to be the easiest to get, followed by BLT and then VGF...so if you see VGF available, grab those first.

where can i look at the instructions for the 2 browser thing? not sure if what I'm thinking is the way to do this? thanks!

So I’m so close to my day to start changing reservations and have read through the two browser directions several times to be prepared. But I may have a problem. The reservations at my home resort of BRV uses less points than that of the resorts I will be changing to. So when I cancel my original reservation, I will still need to borrow a few points. Will that be a problem with the 20 minute limit?

Also MS opens at 9:00, but you can make online reservations at 8:00 Eastern time - right? Can I start the process before 8:00 or not really?

One last question- on the link to the 2 browser plan, something was mentioned about this plan not working so well with Polynesian due to some glitches with the availability calendar showing availability when there wasn’t actually availability. Anyone know if this is still a problem?

Start at 8. Don't login to to the reservation browser until then. Upping or lowering the point value is fine, you just can't unborrow points that you already borrowed. I went 86 points at BLT to 92 points at Poly no problem, but you do have to plan ahead when doing things like BLT to SSR, where the second reservation actually costs less.
As mentioned, I did this with Poly just a month ago with no problems, so I would assume you're fine. Just don't cancel the home resort reservation until the second one is being held for you to be safe.
