Forgive me I am new and still trying to figure things out and strategies for the use of points in my 2 contracts.

I made a reservation using banked and current use year at BWV for 7 days at the 11 month mark.

I have a second OKW contract same UY.

At the 7 month mark can I change the reservation and change the source of points to use OWK points first before using the OWK points? This would allow me to bank current UY points for BWV.

If this is not clear please let me know and I will try to explain it better.

No, you can't take advantage of home booking priority and then swap out at 7 months unless there happens to be availability for that room at that time.

One time I took the risk of cancelling a reservation at 7 months out so I could rebook it with different points. No availability was showing prior to me doing this so I was well aware that I was taking the risk that my old reservation would be grabbed by a waitlister or someone booking at the same time, but fortunately I was lucky on that occasion.

You can use the modify option on the dvc website. If there is still availability at BWV for your dates and villa type at the 7 month mark, you can modify the reservation to use the OKW points. If the dates are booked, you can’t switch out the points.

Give member services a ring as I have done this before without having to change the reservation as both points are valid at seven months .

This only works if there is still availability. Otherwise it is circumventing the home resort 11-month advantage and should not be permitted.

MS is not supposed to allow this without availability so consider it luck that you are being allowed to do this if what you want is not available

Walking I'm completely okay with. This seems like an actual wrong thing to do IMO.
This is explicitly wrong. No one is supposed to be able to (and MS isn't supposed to allow it) change 11 month priority points at 7 months with points from a different resort. It is explicitly dictated in the POS, Rules and Regulations, and Multi-Site POS on how it works. However, it is possible if the room is available for say the first 2 nights at your 7 month day MS will allow for those points to be exchanged. But they will only allow for exchanging of points (or supposed to) for days at the end or beginning of your trip (as they can't split a reservation). So in practice what effectively happens is they book the new room under the 7 month points cancel the days on the old reservation and then finally merge the two together (so requires it to be the beginning or end). If the room isn't available until the end of your stay you are supposed to be required to wait until the 7 month from the available date.

I know some people have reported MS allowing point exchanges for available dates in the middle of their stay but really that also is "breaking" the rules since MS is expressly forbidden from splitting a reservation into two. So anytime this happens is really a "pixie dust" at the disservice of other guests.
