changing names on a reservation?

I just found out I have to have back surgery this month. We have our 1st trip planned to WDW and will have to cancel
Most of the points were banked from last year, so I can't bank them again.

One of my options is to try to sell the reservation. If I do, can MS just change the names on the existing reservation, or will they have to cancel and then rebook (and risk loosing the reservation?).

You should be able to just change the name. As long as the new vacationer needs the same location, dates and type of lodging.
