I did this through Disney. However, the timeframes seems unreasonably long.

Contacted Disney with change information February 13th.
Got the paperwork April 1st.
Sent the paperwork back April 8th (overnight).
Still not recorded.

Anyone else been through this process - how long did it take to be recorded?

For anyone else going through this process. The new deed just showed up today, May 24, 2013. Quite a long process. Probably easier and quicker to do it yourself then go through Disney's on-site company.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did it cost?

I beliive it was $575.00 - $475 for the main contract and $100 for the 2nd contract. Definately could be cheaper if you did it yurself (and a shorter timeframe).

I am sure that sales took priority and your name change sat on someones desk for awhile.

Did you fill out the paperwork yourself or did you have a 3rd party do it?

My dad wants to transfer the deed he and my mom bought together to my sister and me, but my mom died in November 2011 and we're afraid there's going to be some sort of probate process (even though it was in both of their names).

Does anyone know what Disney's on-site company is like? Do they help you with the paperwork? I'm so inexperienced in this (my dad is 75 and knows literally nothing about this stuff either, he just signed the thing 20 years ago when he and my mom bought into DVC) and I'm afraid of doing it wrong.

TavieP, so sorry to hear about your mom. I would give Member Admin a call (same number as Mbr Svcs, listen for prompt). With membership as large as it is, your situation is not unusual. It is just like having someone's name taken off (or added) to a deed on your house, so papers have to be filed like a home closing. Thus the cost.

As for Esulerzy, that IS a long time! I do not understand why on earth it would take that long. Did you ever call during that time to "bird-dog" it? Just wondering.

My sympathies for your loss. :worried:

I belive I once saw/read you could remove a name from the deed by presenting applicable paperwork. In this case, a death certificate (again, so sorry).
