I just wanted to post to help any others that changing my name on my DVC was actually quite simple post wedding. Once I had it changed legally here, I just had to fax DVC my member info, new ID's and a copy of the marriage license so show my original name.

Took about 2 days. Technically on the deed it will still show my maiden name, but now my digital membership ID and online presence all has my married name.

Truthfully was shocked how easy it was, was a bit concerned it may have taken more effort.

Thanks for sharing & best wishes for a long & happy marriage. :)

Great info. Was interested in the same question. Thanks for the post. Congratulations and many happy days for the future!

I would think the deed still having your maiden name could be a problem in the future if/when you want to sell. I wonder why they did not/would not change the deed to update your current legal name.

Honestly I'm not sure. Will cross that bridge if we ever need it. But I mean obviously changing the deed is a much bigger process requiring legal documents/notary etc.

But technically I've 'assumed' my husbands last name. I still have official documents to support my maiden name (birth cert, marriage license) So it wouldn't be the hardest thing to do later if needed.

But when I asked if I needed that they pretty much said no - at least not for my current needs of booking/using my DVC.

And after having to fax my name change to everyone (banks, government agencies etc) Was just happy DVC was quick and painless. Was prepared for a lot of following up that I never needed :-)

I believe you can sign documents with your maiden name. You just need proof (i.e., marriage certificate), of your name change on your ID.

Meh, this is the same for any real estate. You show the name change paperwork, and move on.
