I also walked away from a higher paying job.
The higher paying job offered:
25 vacation days, 2 work from home days, was closer to my house.
I walked away because I was always under stress, I would get called in between the hours of 2AM-4AM every other night because the 'outsourced partners' were not contracted to fix the code in the computer software they wrote, so I had to try to maintain things on my end. I was salary and putting in over 50 hours a week.
The job I came to offered less vacation time, less pay, the benefits 401k was a little less. I got about the same health/insurance benefits for a lower price, the new company offers A LOT of perks that my other company didn't offer and has been rated one of the top places to work. My hours are capped so I cannot go over 50 hours without management approval. To me, the stress relief was well worth it!
