Changing dates of holiday after tickets have been issued

Hi,

We're 3 weeks away from our WDW trip (with Virgin Holidays).

Something has happened meaning that we not be able to make the trip. Rather than cancel and lose the majority of the money, we were wondering if we could transfer it to another date next year.

However, our tickets have already been issued, not to mention that there's only 3 weeks to the departure date, so we may be too late.

Has anyone else ever heard of this being done at such a late stage? I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks

All you can do is ring and ask. T&C's below say they will try if possible.
If you cancel between 15-28 days from departure you lose 60%

If You Change Your Booking
If,If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way, we will do our utmost to make these changes, but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made must be from the ‘lead name’ on the booking or your Travel Agent. You will be asked to pay an administration charge of £35 per person and any further cost we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made. Only one change of departure date, per booking may be permitted. Any change in departure date will be treated as a cancellation and full cancellation charges will apply. You will be asked to pay an admin fee of £35 per person and a new deposit per person to secure the new departure dates. However, we will discount the new booking with the original deposit amount paid. Any further changes may be treated as a cancellation by you and result in cancellation charges being applied.

Note: Certain arrangements may not be amended after they have been confirmed and any alteration could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements. In some cases, any changes made may mean you having to pay for the cancelled arrangements and purchasing new ones at full cost.

Can you not claim on your insurance? Probably lose less money that way. Just an idea :goodvibes

i would call them and see what they say, as your not cancelling completely they may just change it over with an admin fee. we have done this plenty of times but not as close as you are

hope you can get something sorted. :)
