We have 1br VWL for Oct. 23 for 6 nights.

Then VB Oct. 29 for 4 nights.

The VWL reservation is 190 pts.

The VB reservaton is 66 pts.

We may want to arrive at VWL on Oct. 19 and check out on Oct.
27. Then check into Vero on Oct. 27 for 5 nights.

New reservations would be:

VWL would now be 220 pts and VB would be 63 pts.

I would only lose 3 pts, correct? (They are borrowed)

If they have what we want available can I change the dates and only lose 3 pts-they would go into a holding account and I know we wouldn't use these before they had to be used.

Thanks for any help.

You can change or cancel your reservations this far out without any loss or being put into holding acct. The question would be if there is availability for what you want to do. Call MS first thing Monday and they will help you through it. Just make certain they understand you don't want to cancel ;your existing reservation, just change if you can. Unfortunately, you will loose the 3 points if you can't use them in the use yr into which they were borrowed. But it is only 3 points and that isn't bad. When you are like me & always in the state of borrowing, that is a small price to pay for what you want. Also you haven't borrowed the points yet as they do the whole reservation, not each resort separately. They only borrow as needed. So you will be using more points in total and shouldn't lose any if I am reading you correctly.

Actually, you shouldn't lose any points. Since you are in the 7 month window, and using more total points, you should be able to use all the 190 and 66 points from before, and just add the 27 extra you will need. It all just depends if there is availability.

It partly depends on where the points are coming from. If all in one contract, no lost points since your total for the new reservation is more than the old one. If from different home resorts but the same use year, you should still be ok. If from totally different contracts it is more complicated but MS can still likely fix it so you won't lose the points. Just call them and give them a chance. Good luck.

DVC-John is correct. There is no issue here except resort availability on the new dates you want.

You have a current reservation using points in an Oct/Nov timeframe. Since there is no Novermber Use Year for anyone, this means that all the points you are using for the current reservation are in the same use year. (They have to be since there's no Novermber use year). That is, they're either all in the 2002 use year (December use year month) or they're all in the 2003 use year (all other use year months).

Since it's within 7-months, home resort no longer applies. So ALL your points are still good.

When you cancel the first set of reservations all 256 points are returned to your account. You then make the new reservation using the 256 points along with 27 additional points.

If in the off-chance the points came from two different contracts (two different member numbers), then you would have had to have balanced that out when you made the initial reservation. Since you didn't mention anything like that, it's safe to assume all your points have the same use year month, even if they're different resorts.

InstImpres,

I think I understand what you mean. If I borrowed 2004 pts then they are, in fact, 2003 pts now, right?
