Changing after online check-in?

Anyone ever absolutely have to change their rooms after online check-in? I am very open to location but there are some things I simply won't be able to deal with.

(Paid for CSR water view (non-preferred) and asked through special assistance for a 1st floor room so I wouldn't have to deal with elevators for my wheelchair. I was told no problem but dread some foul up could put me in something like Casitas 24XX.)

Using on-line check in this situation makes no difference. With on-line C/I, they will have already assigned a room, checked you in, and cut your keys. But if you are unhappy with the room location, floor, etc, simply tell them at the Front Desk. They can change you to another room and cut new keys with no problem.

Online checkin or waiting till you get there- it really makes no difference. You still won't know what room you are in until you arrive. If you don't like your location you can then ask the CM for a change. If you have very particular needs as for as room location goes, it's probably better if you don't use the online check in.

We did online check in 2010. When they gave us our room we were not happy because it was nothing like we requested. They changed it quickly with no problems.

Ok. Somehow I was under the impression that you actually got your room assignment with online check in.

Not at all.

In fact, they may not meet any of your requests at all. It seems - and I mean just that - I have no confirmation of this - that the priority in checking in online and picking up your keys is to get you into an available room - as in one you can go into as soon as you pick up your keys.

If you have specific requests or needs, I think you'd do better to check in face to face. That way, you can discuss your needs and change rooms, if required. :)

If you have specific needs, as you do, it is better to not use on line check in. It is intended to speed up the check in process by having everything prepared for you when you arrive. If you may need to switch your assigned room, it is rude to the other guests waiting in line for speedy check in behind you. It is better to wait in line to speak directly to a CM.
I know they WILL take the time to change the assignment and cut new keys but that is not fair to those behind you in line. That is what the regular line is for.

Actually, the OP said they made the request through special assistance so I don't think they have anything to worry about. I did the very same thing for my 82 year old father in a wheelchair. I requested first floor at Pop Century and was actually given a call back explaining that the only first floor rooms available did not fit my view request. Needing a first floor room for a wheelchair takes a higher priority than just basic "I want a first floor room".

OP - don't sweat it - you will be fine.
