If I had reservations for a Studio and within the thirty days prior to arrival, wish to change that reservation to a one bedroom (if available) could I do so, providing I had the points, or is everything locked in within the last thirty days? Also, could I change locations within the last thirty days without incurring any penalty?

Absolutely you can change room type/location without a penalty if the unit you desire is available, and costs the same or more points than the original reservation.

If you wanted to book a reservation that cost you fewer points than the original reservation within 30 days, the remaining points would go into holding.

In your case, ou won't have a problem since you want to go from a studio (less points) to a 1BR (more points).

You can change to a one bedroom without penalty. As far as changing resorts, it will depend upon if the new resort takes less points than the one you already have reserved. Any extra points not used for the new reservation would go into holding status, meaning they can only be used for DVC resorts, and only be ably to book new reservations 60 or less days from arrival. They also could not be banked.

Generally, it isn't a great idea to change to accommodations that take less points during the 30 day window, if you can avoid it.

It is all based upon availability, of course.
