Hi,
I just had this great idea a few moments ago while watching a movie I'm scheduled to go to the world from Jan 19-25 staying at CBR and I decided that it would be kewl to stay an extra night cos I have the 26th off work! Anyways I would need an extra night at my hotel and to change my plane ressie. I'm flying northwest out of Minneapolis/St.Paul has anyone ever changed there flight resevation (this would just be the return flight) I booked it on-line, but I tried (not too hard I might add) to look on nwa.com for info, but I couldn't find any info on what it would cost. Was it easy? and is it a lot of work to change the ressie? Thanks :)

Most times it will cost you to change your ticket. $100 on some airlines. I would call your airline and ask them.

It is not a lot of work, but most airlines (except SWA) charge for doing it. I know that USAirways charges $100.00 per ticket.

There is not a single, hard-and-fast rule. Even on the same airline, the rules can be different for different fare classes and different routes (due to competition).

If you have a fully refundable ticket (which can be around $1 thousand RT in economy), there is no extra charge.

If you have a discounted, non-refundable ticket, airlines typically charge $100 if you only change the return flight. (But I've also seen the fee at $25 and $50.) If you change the outbound flight, you'll typically pay $100 plus any fare difference. So if you originally paid $250 RT, but the fare for your new flights is $450, you would have to pay an additional $300. You may also encounter the charge for the fare difference when changing only your return flight.

Thanks for all of the input! My ticket it a non refundable ticket. I checked the flights and with my outbound flight staying the same and the new return flight it is cheaper than what I orginally paid (by about $10)....so I will try and call NW to find out how much it will cost me to stay an extra day!

Ok I just found out that it will only cost me $50 to change my e-ticket with Northwest! How exciting now I just have to see if CBR is available for one more night!

Your attitude is great. I'm glad I read this thread.

We are in the middle of a snow storm and I may have to change our departure date :charac2: and it's $50 per ticket plus the difference in airfare price. I don't know for sure if I have to change it yet since we have 3 days left before I have troubles with work...I'm a teacher. We've had 3 snow days in a row after a long winter break. I may go mad. If we have 4 more snow days, and the school won't let me leave, I'd have to change my flight. The the question will be do I change all 4 of ours or just mine and let the family go alone. That would be so painful!!! Hopefully we will have school tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. :guilty:
