Changing a cruise reservation thru DVC

I was just informed over on the cruise board that the cabin we are reserved for is very noisy. If I call DVC and try to change room numbers, am I going to have to pay an extra $75? I don't want to change categories, just get moved to another room in the same category.

I believe any changes to the existing reservation would involve a $ 75 fee.

Which cabin are you referring too.

Any change is $75. Although if it makes more you more comfortable then it is worth it IMHO

I would not think they would charge the fee if it was simply a room change. A category change would probably involve a fee.

If you aren't changing dates, I think you could talk them out of it.

Ed, it is cabin #6099. A lady on the cruise board said that it had a terrible vibration that gave her a migraine. She said she changed to a new room a few doors down and it had no noise. She referred to it as funnel noise? Any ideas? Should I just wait and request a new room when I get there or try to change it now. I really do not want to pay an extra $75, nor do I think I should have to.

You will incur another $75 fee to change cabins. I would wait and give the room a try. People have different perceptions of "noise" sometimes too. When you are onboard if you have a problem, there will not be a fee to change rooms at that time.

My husband and I took the 4-day cruise on the Disney Wonder last September. We booked the cruise through DVC and used our points. We paid a one-time charge of $75.

Our initial cabin assignment was #6532. When I looked at the deck plans, I noticed that #6532 was very close to the elevators. I figured that area might get noisy at times, so I called MS and asked to be moved away from the elevators. We were reassigned just a few doors down to Cabin #6538.

We did NOT incur another $75 charge for this cabin reassignment. Keep in mind that we did not change categories, travel dates, etc. We just changed cabins on the same deck. I don't know if making "major" changes will incur another $75 charge.

I would highly recommend Cabin #6538. We were far enough away from the elevators not to hear "crowd noise", but the walk to the elevators was still short.

Also, as two adults (no children) we thoroughly enjoyed having our cabin "Forward" on the ship. We could take the "Forward Elevator" to Deck 9 and the "adults only" pool was right there! If you have youngsters, I would recommend an "Aft" cabin (closer to Mickey's Pool).

DVCinderella, Thanks for your comments. Part of this post got deleted when the boards were down. I was going to change rooms, (not categories, or dates) but MS said there would be a charge. So we decided to stick it out until we get to port, or on the ship, and then if we change, there will be no charge. MS also said that because we booked this room back in August that our location would not be near as good as it is now, because I would be rebooking the reservation. I'm trying not to worry about it too much, but I will be disappointed if we get there, and the noise is as loud as others have said they experienced, and they can't find anywhere else to move us. But I guess that's the chance you take. I really do think the fee is unfair. It's not like our documents have been printed already. Thanks again for your comments. We booked our October 2001 cruise in January 2001. I changed cabins 3 times, same cruise date, same category and only paid $75.

When Fall Fantasy rates applied, I asked about changing categories and MS said that would cost me an additional $75. because it was a category change. We decided not to.

I'm really surprised that MS would charge you another $75 for just a cabin reassignment within the same category. When I called MS for cabin reassignment, I was only on hold 2-3 minutes while they called the DCL to get me a different cabin.

How difficult can it be to reassign a cabin? I certainly don't think it's worth $75!

I would try MS again. Don't even ask about the $75 charge...just tell them you would like a cabin reassignment (same travel dates, same category, same deck). If they tell you this will incur a $75 charge, ask them if the rules have changed. Inform them that you know other DVC members who have made cabin changes and NOT been charged.
