Changes to Home Rules

I have been gone for my business and just logged into my account at DVCMember.com There was a notice posted that DVC had changed the Rules. I glanced through them and noticed that DVC has changed the Associate Members to a maximum of 4 accounts and set up a proceedure to allocate reservations for - special seasons - what ever they decide those are.

Has anyone else noticed this and is there an ongoing discussion about this? What else did I miss in the 15 page document?

Pretty sure it happened many months ago, and yes there was discussion at the time. The 4 account thing seems to be set up to halt some professional renting situations.

The Special Seasons list was done years ago to hold a lottery for Christmas time reservations. They assumed that more members would want to stay during that time than they had rooms for. Never turned out to be an issue so I don't think they ever used it. I think you signed up at 15 months.

DVC allows someone to be an Associate Member on four memberhips total and has the discretion to limit associates even further if deemed necessary.

The Special Seasons list has been in existence since 1991 when DVC began. It has not been used since 1999 and was never maxed out - thus there was no need to continue it. It is still an option to be used at DVC's discretion in the future.

The Speicial Seasons List was basically a lottery where members could opt into the lottery 15 months ahead for dates from 12/24 - 12/31 each year at any any resort 9without regard to Home Resort status. Since no resorts were ever filled using the lottery, it has not been used since 1999 but remains on the books as an option that could be reinstated as deemed necessary by DVC.

Really bad joke - and tough to find any humor. The unnecessary sarcasm definitely drips thru though.

No need to read thru the Member website if you'd rather not. I'd like to believe that questions could always be answered honestly and factually right here - without the attitude.

I'm glad they've taken some steps to stop professional renting. I wish that they would do even more.
