Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude-April 11-19, 2014-Day 9-Part 3 (updtd 6/29)

Taking a break from work to get caught up! I am definitely living vicariously these days where WDW is concerned. Boy I miss that AP!!

I neglected to mention the last time I posted I got that same set of attraction Cover Bands that you got. I love them! I have the Small World one and DD uses the Haunted Mansion one. Ours don't have the space cut out for the Mickey head though. I guess they were having problems with the readers sensing the Mickey Head through fabric.

My comments might be a little all over the place, so bear with me. :)

"They are HUGE. Some of them barely fit on the road. And I don't see how that dragon doesn't set things on fire. We didn't get a photo, but it actually breathes fire. It is bada**"

I CANNOT WAIT to see this parade. I watched the DISUnplugged live broadcast of it, and was so thrilled. Even if they borrowed a couple of floats from the old Disneyland Tokyo parade. (That parade was amazing!) The concept is so cool, and so different from the parades that have run in the afternoon for the last several of years. And hello, it has a fire breathing dragon! People upset about the recycling of the Tokyo floats need to get a life. From what I understand, during the test runs of the parade, they did catch one of awnings on Main Street on fire.

"We liked the lunch. I think the food is heavy for a super hot day though. They do have a salad, I think. The desserts are always good."

They (BOG) do have a salad which is not heavy. It has warm tuna on it, and I do think it would be a better salad if the tuna were cold and raw, but that wouldn't be very French would it? The turkey samich is also not heavy and you can get the ham samich w/out the cheese which makes it not so heavy.

"It [Spaceship Earth] stopped in just as we were getting to the Rome scene. It then started back up and we continued the rest of the ride in silence. It was lame. But, what can ya do?"

What can you do? Umm...recite the rest of the audio for guests in nearby cars. You've been on it enough times you know it, right? ;) Actually I probably would have made up a whole new hilarious track much to the dismay of those riding in cars near me.

"DS was waaaay too cool for character photos. Or photos in general."

I'm sorry, but no one is too cool for photos with Farmer Mickey. Just sayin'. :cool2:

I really want to do the Garden Grill meal. At DD's last recital they did a dance to "Cotton Eyed Joe," and of course they dressed up all country. I would love to get a picture of her in that outfit with Farmer Mickey. It would be too cute! We also want to re-create the pictures from our first trip where she was wearing her Cinderella costume with her wearing her 8th grade dance dress since that dress was Cinderella inspired. Oh, and I still want a picture of her in front of the Grand Floridian gingerbread house with her in the gingerbread costume her dance school uses for one The Nutcracker dances. We were going to do that one a couple of years ago at Thanksgiving, but she got sick when we planned to do it, and there wasn't enough time later in the trip to do it.

And what up with this random kid just smacking you?! Gracious. I get the whole meltdown mode thing, but sheesh. Good for you for fussing at her. Clearly somebody needed to.

I love the playgrounds the put up for F&G. My only compliant is they don't keep them covered, and the equipment can get really hot. It would be nice if they installed a playground for use year round. One in Future World and one over at the World Showcase actually.

So, does Monorail Hipster (aka your DS in case you forgot I named him that) not realize how gorgeous his hair is? I get the whole beanies are "cool" thing, but girls dig a nice head of hair. Why cover it up? Also, I might just have to change his name from Monorail Hipster to Monorail Hobo since he likes riding the rail. Can't say as I blame him. I love riding trains, too.

I enjoyed the Plaza restaurant when we went. I had a club samich, and immediately regretted that choice when someone near me ordered the chicken (?) strawberry salad. That thing looked yummy!

LOVE this picture!

I also love the tigers. I just want to hug and pet them! I'm sure they'd appreciate it too. So much so they'd invite me to be dinner.

So excited your DD is giving EE a chance! Can't wait to hear how that turns out!

That cone looks good.
Hate downpours.
Nice parade pics.
The lemon cupcake looked good.
Nice tour of OKW.
LOL. You yelled at the girl.
The food looked good at GG. Never been there but always thought of going. The kids dessert looked better.
So jealous of the Rose slushie.
Canada is so pretty.
The Plaza food looked good.
Nice safari pics.
I am caught up.

Caught up again.

I have gone with kids that want nothing to do with a ride. Sometimes they give in and sometimes nothing calms them. Time to just walk away and do something else. The flash photography annoys me but I never say anything. I took a picture on POC with flash totally by accident, new camera and I forgot to turn I off. I did apologize to the one other person on the boat. Seriously though the pics are odd when they have flash. I challenge myself on dark rides.

I hate the flashers - LOL.

I did ride Great Movie Ride with a woman who flashed away even as the CM kept saying NO FLASH. I thought I was going to be blind by the end of the ride. It was the first time I actually said anything.

I haven't done the Liberty Belle in a few trips. I'm the only one that really likes it.

I really enjoy it. A nice relaxing tour.

How cool about your great grandfather and trains. My DH loves trains and I tried to surprise him with the steam engine tour last trip. My FIL was a foreman for Reading Railroad. I actually have a few of his union cards dating back to the late 1930's.

That is cool. I love old stuff like that. So much history behind it. Of course my latest obsession is vintage sewing machines!

AK id probably one of my favorite parks. Nice that the crowds weren't too bad. I may be going down during Spring Break next year depending on the bands at the Flower Power concerts.

It WILL be crowded. We are just good at avoiding the crowds. Expect it to be very crowded.

It looks like your spring break week was less busy than mine...it was crazy that week we were there!!!!

It was crowded!! We did a good job of avoiding it and I think we got lucky a couple of times as well.

Gotta love early mornings at the Animal Kingdom. It just seems to much more laid back there early in the morning.

I agree. We got a lot done.

Wow! DD was going to brave Everest!? Go girl!

Yes!! Finally!!

No wait for the safari!? Wow! You went on the right day!

We really did. Park was not busy that day = not for Spring Break anyway.

Your DH captured some great animal shots. I love the lions on the rocks photos. Very Lion King!

He takes the best safari photos between us.

Great start to the Animal Kingdom day. I hope the crowd level stayed that way for you!

It did. It wasn't bad at all!!

Taking a break from work to get caught up! I am definitely living vicariously these days where WDW is concerned. Boy I miss that AP!!

I know what you mean!!

They really help. Otherwise the bands make my arm itch.

My comments might be a little all over the place, so bear with me. :)

OK

"They are HUGE. Some of them barely fit on the road. And I don't see how that dragon doesn't set things on fire. We didn't get a photo, but it actually breathes fire. It is bada**"

That parade is awesome!! You will LOVE it!!

I am just kind of MEH about the food there.

I would have enjoyed hearing you do that for sure!!

"DS was waaaay too cool for character photos. Or photos in general."

I'm sorry, but no one is too cool for photos with Farmer Mickey. Just sayin'. :cool2:

I know, right? The kid is a killjoy, I tell ya.

I really want to do the Garden Grill meal. At DD's last recital they did a dance to "Cotton Eyed Joe," and of course they dressed up all country. I would love to get a picture of her in that outfit with Farmer Mickey. It would be too cute! We were going to do that one a couple of years ago at Thanksgiving, but she got sick when we planned to do it, and there wasn't enough time later in the trip to do it.

We love the food there, but I just recently read somewhere on FB that the restaurant won't spin anymore. Which is a bummer. I thought that was cool.

And what up with this random kid just smacking you?! Gracious. I get the whole meltdown mode thing, but sheesh. Good for you for fussing at her. Clearly somebody needed to.

I was dumbfounded by her behavior. For realz.

I love the playgrounds the put up for F&G. My only compliant is they don't keep them covered, and the equipment can get really hot. It would be nice if they installed a playground for use year round. One in Future World and one over at the World Showcase actually.

I agree that they should have them year round. I also agree that is they weren't covered, they would get super hot. The weather was warm but not hot during Spring Break so this wasn't a problem.

I love his hair. He is always trying to straighten it and it looks really stupid when he does. I tell him he needs to embrace the curls. Chicks dig the curls. And don't even get me started with that ridiculous beanie. At least it is a Jack Skellington one though.

I enjoyed the Plaza restaurant when we went. I had a club samich, and immediately regretted that choice when someone near me ordered the chicken (?) strawberry salad. That thing looked yummy!

We always enjoy the food there.

LOVE this picture!

I also love the tigers. I just want to hug and pet them! I'm sure they'd appreciate it too. So much so they'd invite me to be dinner.

I agree. They are so beautiful!!

So excited your DD is giving EE a chance! Can't wait to hear how that turns out!

I was just so happy she was willing to try it. There may have been some bribery involved.

That cone looks good.
Hate downpours.
Nice parade pics.
The lemon cupcake looked good.

It was. I like lemony things.

Nice tour of OKW.
LOL. You yelled at the girl.

She needed a good swat on the rear end!!

The food looked good at GG. Never been there but always thought of going. The kids dessert looked better.
So jealous of the Rose slushie.

I like pink things, too!!

Canada is so pretty.

It is. I love that garden!!

The Plaza food looked good.
Nice safari pics.
I am caught up.

YAY!! thanks !!

Day 8 – Part Two

When I last left you, DD had decided she was going to give Everest a try. For years we had been trying to talk her onto it with no success. But finally, she agreed to try it. I admit that there may have been some bribery involved.

Anyway, we had fast passes and we got on pretty quickly. I rode with DD and DH rode with DS. I held her hand the whole time, but she LOVED it. Of course. We knew she would!!

After our ride, she wanted to ride it AGAIN. So she and DS went on again doing the single rider.

At this point it is about 1 PM and we had done everything in the park we wanted to do. The problem was that our ADR wasn’t until 4:30 ish. So I went in and asked and they said they could seat us right away – YAY!! We had lunch at Yak and Yeti.

For my drink, I got a Bonzai Blast.

This is a yummy lemonade type drink. Yes, it has alcohol in it. Very tasty.

We got the fried green beans for an appetizer.

I love those things. The dip is super yummy.

DS got the chicken lo mein.

Look at how much food that is!! He did some pretty good damage to it though.

DD got chicken and french fries – again!!

DH and I shared the steak and shrimp

This entrée was A LOT of food. I am really glad we shared it.

For dessert, DD got some ice cream.

DS got the sorbet medley. Mango, Lemon and Raspberry.

And DH and I shared the wontons. Cue the angels singing …..

I absolutely love these things!! So, so SO good!!

We really enjoyed our dinner here and the service was really good. We love this place and will be back!!

On our way out, DD got some pressed pennies.

After that, we headed back to the resort. DH took DD to the pool and I got caught up on some laundry. DS took a nap.

We've only done the counter service at Yak and Yeti. Your meals looked really good.

We've had trips where we've skipped AK entirely to add another Epcot or MK day. After the safari and EE, everyone is ready to leave.

No Expedition Everest ride photo to commerate dd's first ride? I'm glad she enjoyed it!

How great your DD rode EE and loved it :)

It's great you got to go into Y&Y early, your food looks delicious and huge :rotfl:

I'm glad you all had a great lunch and that they were able to seat you ahead of your ADR time.

But most importantly, congratulations to your DD for conquering EE!!!! I'm glad she enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

WE have yet to go to Yak and Yeti, but now that I know chicken fingers are on the menu,...we may be able to give it a try! :lmao:

I haven't been able to get to Yak and Yeti but it looks great! I'm glad your daughter enjoyed the Yeti.. Lawson rode that last time. He was so brave, lol.

I saw your comment on FB about mine train and yes we did get to ride it!! It was super fun!! Sorry I didn't respond- we have been dealing with a mess since we got home... :(

I hope to start a TR of my trip hopefully in the next week or so.. We did a lot of firsts, even though it was such a short trip.

Caught up again. Glad Hannah liked EE. I am not riding again after the trip in December. I had a serious head ache the rest of the day.

Yak and Yeti looks really good but we like Tusker House for breakfast. Maybe one trip we will give it a try.

You have been absent from my TR. :sad2:

We have done that as well. I fee like they need more in that park. In HS as well.

Since my children are going through a "no photos" stage, I don't bother paying for them.

Yes, we were happy !!

Portions there ARE huge, always the reason why DH and I share

I'm glad you all had a great lunch and that they were able to seat you ahead of your ADR time.

On Spring Break, no less!! We were very pleased!!

But most importantly, congratulations to your DD for conquering EE!!!! I'm glad she enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

We were, too. Now if we can just get her on Splash Mountain. She is afraid of the big drop which I think is nothing. Perhaps more bribery is in order ...

Hahahaha - I know exactly what you mean!!

Whatever that is .... I hope it works out well. Praying for you !!

Send me a link!!

Caught up again. Glad Hannah liked EE. I am not riding again after the trip in December. I had a serious head ache the rest of the day.

I hear ya. Mission Space gives me a headache sometimes and Space Mountain as well.

Yak and Yeti looks really good but we like Tusker House for breakfast. Maybe one trip we will give it a try.

We liked it a lot. We like Tusker house for breakfast as well.

You have been absent from my TR. :sad2:

I know, I know. I have been soooooo busy. I have some free time tonight to update this one and go visit yours :-)

Day 8 – Part Three

DH and DD came back from the pool because it was raining. We decided to head over to Art of Animation for dinner. DS just wanted to walk up to Goods to Go and come back to the room, so we went without him.

To avoid having to stand in three different lines, we all ordered something from the pasta/pizza station.

DD got pizza

She loved it!!

DH got make your own pasta

He liked it.

And I got a meatball sub.

I guess I was still full from lunch because this was just meh for me
.
For dessert DD and DH got cupcakes.

And I got the cheesecake sampler

Yum!!

After dinner we looked around in the gift shop for a while and since mine was getting full, I got a new journal for trip reports. Isn’t it pretty??

After that, we headed back to get things packed up since we were having to leave the next day. Always a horrible feeling !!

:sad1::sad2::sad::sad::sad:

Love the new journel. I have been taking one for the last few years...and I have been such a slacker. I usually write 1 or 2 days worth of notes and then thats it! I need to get better at that!

I make it my nightly ritual before I go to sleep. Or I take it to the pool. it's fun!!

Day 9 – Part 1

We woke up about 7:30 AM. We got everything packed up and rode the bus to MK for our last day of fun!!

DD was in a photo mood.

We got breakfast at the Plaza. I knew that a QS credit for breakfast was one pastry, one fruit or yogurt and a drink, The cashier didn’t know this and she wanted to argue with me about it. The manager overheard and came to tell her that I was right. Haha. In the process of checking out, their computer messed up and they said it would take a while for it to come back up. I wasn’t interested in waiting, so they just said they would take care of it.

DH was confused about why they wouldn’t know about the credits. I didn’t know the answer, but I was glad I stuck to my guns. We got a Danish, a muffin, two bananas and some coffee. I didn’t get photos.

After that, we headed over to Fantasyland to do the Enchanted Tales with Belle. We had a FP for it.

DD got picked to be Maurice.

DH had never done this before and he thought it might be stupid, but afterwards, he said he was really glad we did it and that it was a good attraction.

We headed into New Fantasyland and I got some photos.

DS was off doing his own thing, so we went over to ride the Barnstormer.

DD just loves this ride. Then she went over to get wet at the circus train, while I got her a cake pop.

After that, we headed over so DD could ride Stich again and we met back up with DS. After that, we rode Buzz.

Then the blue train.

DD took a photo of us.

But didn’t want one of her all of a sudden.

I love the blue train.

Always a relaxing ride.

At my photo limit, so I will stop here.

I'm glad you got to head over to AoA and check it out and grab some food. Seeing it gets me excited for our trip!

Your journal is much better than my note taking system for my TR's... :rolleyes1

The morning at MK looks like it is off to a great start. Always a bummer when a CM doesn't know something that everyone here on the DIS knows like it is second nature, but I'm glad that they manager got everything worked out for you.

I wasn't aware of the QS dining credit option at The Plaza. Thanks for that tidbit of info!

From your photos, it doesn't appear all that crowded while you were there. I can't believe this was during Spring Break. This has me rethinking Spring instead of Fall Break. October used to be such a great time to go with the low crowds and pleasant weather. As much as I love the Food and Wine Festival, it's changed all that.

Cute photo of you and your hubby!

Lawson got picked to be Maurice the other week too! We had never done ET either but I am so glad we did! It was so cute and special how they include all the children.

I noticed your Beach Club tee in your pic! OMG- I wanted that when we went.. I saw it in October and didn't get it so when we went to our meal at Cape May last Saturday- I knew I wanted to get it.. Sadly, all out of my size. Maybe next time! When I am not working, I am definitely a tee shirt gal & Disney tees are even better.

Is that where you are staying? that resort is amazing!!

Us ladies need our pretty things.

That whole thing was about to get me really mad. That CM had an attitude.

I wasn't aware of the QS dining credit option at The Plaza. Thanks for that tidbit of info!

I wasn't either. We just saw that is was open and gave it a try. Maybe is was just for Spring Break. I dunno. They didn't seem very well prepared at all.

We got lucky, I think. I did choose park days based on the crowd calendar. DO NOT for any reason think Spring Break is less crowded than October. Because it isn't. I think maybe this year, most schools had their Spring Break earlier than us.

Cute photo of you and your hubby!

Thanks!!

Lawson got picked to be Maurice the other week too! We had never done ET either but I am so glad we did! It was so cute and special how they include all the children.

It is so cute and I love the magical part where the window becomes a door

I love that t-shirt!!

Day 9 – Part Two

After our relaxing ride around Tomorrowland, we decided to have lunch at Tomorrowland Terrace.

This is where we found out the credits we used for breakfast that morning did in fact NOT get used and we had extra. 6 left to be exact. We used four for this meal and it was a TON of food.

DD got chicken and FF – shocker.

DH and I got burgers.

And DS got a chicken sandwich.

We got chocolate cake and carrot cake for dessert.

After that, DD wanted to go over and check out Tom Sawyer’s island. DS and I waited on the dock for them.

This is the reason I stayed on even land. DD wanted to walk on the barrel bridge.

That is another broken ankle waiting to happen for me.

I have been over there before and it is a neat little area to explore. There are caves and a fort. It is really neat.

DS and I had met up with some friends and we are catching up on what they had been up to.

DH and DD got back and dry land and we said good bye to our friends and headed across the path to the wildest ride in the wilderness!!
