I'm planning a surprise trip to the world for my family over Thanksgiving. I had ressies for the ASMO and wanted to change to ASSp for the AP code but they were sold out. Then the CM told me that they had rooms with the code at the POR,FQ or CBR for just a dollar and change more then I was paying at the ASMO!! I picked the POR because I've heard some great things about it and we've never stayed there.

For those that have stayed there before, where would you recommend requesting a room? I think I like the bayou section better, are all the buildings good or are some more worn out then others?

Any other tips or suggestions for the resort would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

I love Port Orleans Riverside! Of course, I loved it when it was still Dixie Landings, too. ;)

I prefer the Bayou, and building 14 is closest to the main building and first bus stop. Buildings 15 and 18 are close, with building 18 the closest "smoking-optional" building in the Bayou.

That sounds great. What was the price that you got and what code did you use? I just called and asked for the AP rate at POFQ for 11/29 and 11/30 and was told $175. That seems like a lot more than a couple of $$ more than the All-Stars.

Please let me know.

The rate I was paying at the All-Star Movies was 86.24 with tax. The rate I got for the POR was an AP rate of 87.69 with tax.

The All-star Movies doesn't participate in the 2 new codes so the rate I was paying at the ASMo was the rack value rate. The AP rate at the ASsports and ASMusic was 49.00 without tax but they were sold out for our dates.

Hope that helped you!

I stayed at POR in Oct 2000 and we were in AB Bldg 15. It's a short walk to the food court and the bus stop. Back then the bus service was great. (I haven't been there recently so maybe someone else can fill you in on how it has been lately.)

The food court was great. I thought they had alot of good selections and the food was pretty tasty.

There is a quiet pool nearby and the laundry facilities are right there.

Take some time to walk around the grounds, they are beautiful. Also, the boat to DTD is great.

Enjoy.

I love POR, but don't be disappointed if you don't get your requested location. I rarely get the location I asked for at POR. First time I made a request there, I requested AB and got Magnolia Terrace. Well, I let myself be down for a few hours because I had been so looking forward to AB. However, I realized MT was beautiful, and I never should have gotten my heart set on a particular area. I was so mad at myself then for letting my disappointment ruin my first few hours! It's a beautiful resort-everywhere!

I have stayed at PO about 5 times. I have stayed in the mansions, but prefer the bayou's. I agree with the previous poster. The entire resort is beautiful, don't be dissapointed if you don't get the building you request..

We prefer Magnolia Terrace. Acadian Manor is a close second. Check out pictures of the inside and outside of the Mansions and the Bayou rooms and see what you prefer!:D
