How do you modify a resort reservation online. Can it be done for a reservation that’s for 2020?

We had a modify reservation button online for both our trips in 2018, but the one that is booked for late 2019-early 2020 doesn't. It says to call. There was a spot that was right under the make a payment button that said modify reservation. You could modify any of the parts online(we had a package) except for the people going.

I just modified mind last night...or actually 12:30 this morning. :rolleyes1 The button was near where my confirmation info is. Mine is room only and my trip is in June, so I'm not sure that makes a difference on whether you can modify or not.

Did you do it on a phone or desktop? Just curious if it’s because I’m using a phone?

If you used a travel agent then they will have to modify it for you - no button will pop up. I *think* this might also be true if you used any 3rd party booking system other than booking it through disney.

Related reservation modification question. I'm looking at booking a specific room type, so I want to get it booked and held for me, but I don't know whether I'll buy park tickets some other way (in case Canadian discount gets extended at all). I see this note at checkout:

"Modify or cancel without penalty by xxx xx, 2019."

when I have it selected as a package with tickets. If I book it this way, can I just axe the tickets altogether later? If so, can it be done online or would I have to call in?

Or am I better off just booking room-only for now?

As far as I know, you have to get tickets when you choose a package as that's what it is. I wouldn't think you could remove the tickets from the package, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone who has done this will know. Personally, I would just book a room only. That way, you could always add your tickets when you're ready. When I booked my trip, it was only $3 more for the package. However, since my husband hasn't decided if he's coming or not yet, it made better since to book room only and I could add tickets later. Hope I've helped!

Thank you for the advice. The "package" has a much smaller deposit and it's 0% for 6mo on my Disney Visa so it seemed like it would otherwise be better to book it that way and front less funds at 8 months out, but since I don't know yet how many days we're doing ticket-wise, room-only is probably for the best.
