Change plans from September to October due to weather?

I have our (DFi, Me, and DD6) WDW trip planned for September 24-30, POR. Looking at the weather reports and hurricane activity, I'm nervous. We will only be able to take this trip once (probably can't afford another trip for at least 5 years!). We are all very affected by the heat. 85 to me is HOT. And I really don't "understand" humidity at all. :confused3

We have to take the trip in late September, October, or very early November because of my job, but also we are too excited to wait much longer! We want the best experience with low crowds, moderate warm weather, etc. Should I change my September dates? I'm thinking about rescheduling to October 22-28, or Oct. 29-Nov. 4. From what I've read, October seems not very busy and it historically seems there was cooler less rainy/humid weather with some pool days, too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oct is my second favorite time to be in WDW.....late Nov/early Dec being my favorite. Be aware though, you can still get a hurricane in Oct. And in all actuality, a hurricane at WDW isn't all that big of a deal. We were there for Hurricane Charley...that one passed right over our heads. They did shut the parks down for a day but it wasn't a huge deal.
So....should you try a different month. If you want to do that I would try for late Oct into early Nov. We went that time period and the weather was glorious. Even mid-Oct is good. I am going from 10/21-26. There will be lots going on then...MNSSHP, the Food and Wine Festival. Lots of fun stuff. But it won't be deserted. Sept is much better is you are looking for lower park crowds.

I was there Oct. 7-17 last year, and it was still pretty hot during the day. It didn't cool off much at night until the end of my trip. So - I think end of October - beginning of November should be great. Besides, you get the Halloween party in October and the Food and Wine Festival too!

Late October/Early November is around when the weather in Florida starts to change. Of course, 85 is still possible, but much less likely than in September. Hurricanes are less likely too, but also still possible. We had Wilma in WDW last October 24.

Enjoy!

DH and I spent our honeymoon at Disney in September last year.....LOW LOW LOW crowds...and the weather was perfect! We are going again this September.....DH and I love September.....we have already started planning our September 2007 trip!!! We've decided on resorts (since we are doing a split stay) and we are going to look at dining options when we go in May!

My mom asked me yesterday (after telling her we were going back to Disney in Sept this year) "wouldn't you rather go someplace else?" I answered: "There are other places to go?" LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We were there last year (Oct. 21-28) when Hurricane Wilma came ashore. Last year was a crazy year for hurricanes. It's one of those things you have to pray it doesn't come ashore when you are there. Very hard to predict.

Don't worry about the Hurricanes. There is no way to predict them this far out.

However, you may want to move to late October or early November, in hopes for less heat. Depends on what you can take!

No matter what, HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

My mom said the same thing!! Why would I want to go somewhere else?!?!
Gotta love Disney!

We were there last year from Sept. 27-Oct 12 and I thought it was crazy hot, and thought never again! So now we are planning our next trip for December :) . Now I am sure I'm a heat wimp but it sounds like you guys are too, so I agree and say go late October early November :thumbsup2 . You won't want to miss the Holloween party, it's so much fun! It was by far our most favorite day of the whole trip!

If you don't like the heat, change to Oct. The weather is sublime. It's my favorite time to go to WDW. For a little lighter crowds, I would go the week of 10/22-10/28. Halloween does draw a crowd. It's still be more crowded than Sept. would, but not so hot.
The bonus, like others have said, is you will have the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, which we just love. And MNSSHP at MK if you have kids.

Oh terrific...now everyone is going to go at the same time I am!! :teeth:

It stays hot in Florida (low to mid nineties) throughout September. Mid October onward, the humidity drops and the nights are cooler. Temps are in the eighties. Much nicer. I'd also recommend late October. Historically less chance of a hurricane than September, which is peak season!

After you make your plans, quit worrying. the chances of having to deal with a hurricane are slim. Disney will probably only close down for a day or maybe two and they will take good care of you in the meantime. they are far enough inland not to be in any real danger.

Enjoy your trip!

We were there Sept 23 - Oct 3 2005. We had excellent weather. It was HOT though and very humid. We had a rain shower almost every day. Lasted only about 5-10 minutes.

We were there in between 2 hurricanes both of which did not affect the WDW area. We were lucky to miss them but even if we were there during that time, we would not have been affected other than some rain.

Hurricane's can still happen in october. Late September is when the season starts dying down.

Thanks everyone so much for responding. We've decided on Oct. 22-28. At least for now! I've changed everything from dates going, how many days, resorts, etc so many times I'm driving MYSELF crazy! Argh! But at least I've settled on the date... For now... I hope! ;)
