This is a hard question to ask:
i have a grandson who will be doing the 4 day land 3 day cruise.
his other grandma god bless her has been fighting cancer for 10years, now it has spread to brain and other oragans thru out the body.only matter of time. if my dil and son deceide my grandson 10 will not be going , can i have my dd friend go instead ?she is 16? i do have trip insurance just incase we all dont go . if i cant change guest going. can i use the trip insurance for just grandson. i feel torn and uncomfratable even asking this question. But i feel oblagated to not take from my dd we have had to cancel this trip 2 times already on her. thankyou .
oh and grandson will go another time.if he is unable.

If you have not yet paid in full, there should be no problem. If you have paid there may be a redocumentation fee and Fed-Ex charges to get them to you in time. Call your TA or DCL and they will tell you what to do. Sympathy and good luck.

we dont sail till end of summer . we play this day by day . if after its paid past due date is my concerns thankyou ºoº

I may also be in the same situation. My husband, son (20 months) and I are booked on the 9/11/04 Western cruise. We have paid the balance and are keeping our fingers crossed that my husband will be able to go. My husband is an attorney and because he works closely with members of congress, he may have to work. Congress goes back into session early September and if there is a pressing issue at the time, my husband cannot leave DC. I'm hoping this is something we don't have to worry about but it's the nature of the beast. I am still trying to decide who to bring if he can't come.

I completely understand the pain that the family is going through, I lost my mother in a very similar way a few years ago. Thinking back, if my children had something planned that coincided with her illness or her passing on, I wouldn't have asked them not to go.

I don't necessarily agree with treating children like adults, I know that as parents we need to make the rules, but maybe it would be best if you talked to your son and then your son talked to him. Find out how he's feeling and if he'd still like to take the cruise. I know what my kids went through while my mother was sick, we visited her daily and helped with her hospice care. If I could have given them the opportunity to go back to being kids for a little while and take their mind off it, I definitely would have.

 Hugs to your family.

So sorry to hear that this is going on in your life.

DH and I were to go on a 4-day cruise last December. DFIL hospitalized and very ill, so obviously DH couldn't go on the cruise. Less than 2 weeks before the cruise, I switched the documentation so my Mom could go with me. You will pay a small documentation fee and additional cruise insurance cost for the new person on your agenda. They even had to reissue docs for us...but it was no big deal. Everything worked out just fine. Unfortunately, DFIL passed away 2 days after I was home from the cruise. I'm so glad I was able to say goodbye to him.

All my best to you and your family.

My cousin's husband left her 3 weeks before their cruise. She was able to switch me for him 10 days before the trip. There was a 35.00 fee which due to DCL's compassion for her circumstances was waived. I hope this helps.

PS We totally enjoyed the cruise in spite of him.

From what I understand there is a limit on the number of children in each age group but I don't know if this would apply to the 16 year old.

I am available!:teeth:

But on a serious note - P&PD to all of you with vacation plans that are up in the air.

We're sailing on 10/2 and just found out one of the adult members of my party won't be going,. My TA called Disney, they said "no problem". My dd 13 will pay the second adult fee and the third person rate remains the same. No fee for chaning reserveration. Hope this helps. And may God bless and keep your family during this difficult time. You are in my prayers,

clh2,

It's so funny that you said that because my sisters all said the same thing. It's just such a hard decision because I don't want to make anyone feel like I have a "favorite." You know how family can be sometimes. My sisters are my best friends and I would love to go with one of them but hopefully I won't have to make that decision. I'm just thankful that my husband is healthy and that work is the reason for this "problem."

Take care!

Sarah
