Concerning change jars, what are everyone's rules? Specifically, does the change need to be change you pocket instead of putting in wallet? Or is it any metal change you get during the day?

Well, since I'm guilty of starting the challenge ;) I'll tell you what we include:

Any change we get during the day (we try to spend paper $ only), bottle refund money, rebate money, anything like that. I even throw in a dollar bill every now and then.

I'm sure other folks include different things, too!

Once the coin holder in my car is filled it gets emptied (usually weekly)
any change or bills that float in the washer
weekly empty my purse
always take DH change at the end of the day:D Hey he leaves it on the bathroom counter!
never seem to be able to put dollars in but think about it!

Our change jar became a money jar. That sped things up a lot. We did put all change in it but we also put a lot of paper money too. Any "surprise money" overtime money, money we were going to use to do someting special such as eat out or any other cash we could come up with. We had a rule about borrowing. You could borrow money out of it until payday, but with a 100% intrest rate. You borrow a 10 dollar bill, you put back a 20. It was fun to watch our money grow. We did make bank deposits every now and then.

Our 5 gallon change jug and turned in to assorted change "piggys" my kids decided that wanted to seperate the change. So we have 2 penny pigs (1 full), then 1 each nickle, dime, quarter. All change goes into the jug/piggys, except quarters, only some of those do since we use quarters for laundry.

This is my new rule for my husband. If you don't contribute to it, you can't have any of it in Disney. May end up being a splurge of Mommy day!!! Like a spa treatment!

I put in any change that I have in my wallet at the end of everyday.I try to pay with only paper money.Since we have one and two dollar coins up here, the change can add up.I have also added in the past few weeks some paper money that my DH has brought home from work helping unload trucks(and that adds up to).He is now telling me that all of that money will be his Disney money(little he knows...heheheh)

Our Change jar accepts any money! Since we have to buy US $$ for our trip we always put our leftover US money we have from other trips over to the States into the jar and do not spend that until the next trip.I also try to take any US coins I get and put them inot the jar immediately without spending them. Since we also now have $1 and $2 coins only (no more bills for these canadian denominations) when we put our loose change in it tends to add up quick. I do tend to make change when requireing money for pizza day etc., but I must then put back in a paper money, so at least a $5. At first we only put in silver but now I put in pennies and all, everytime I find them in the wash, on the dresser or the floor it goes in! We use the money from he jar for souveniers only.

Since my 'change' now has a purpose:D

Usually all change from dh's pants at the end of the day. All change I have when i remember to empty my wallet. I am going to add to this my survey checks, coupon savings, occasional paper money and the refund check I got back from a doctor from overpaying....
