Major downhill alert on the pommes frites at Cafe Orleans, which used to be one of my favorite things in the parks. The fries are no longer the skinny, crispy deliciousness that they once were. Now they're a thicker, soggy version of what I remember. The waitress noticed our long faces over our fries and took back the basket to bring out a freshly fried batch, but there really was only a marginal improvement. They are a pale shadow of their former goodness. Has this already been discussed? When did this change happen? We haven't eaten at Cafe Orleans for a few trips.

On the upside, I tried the blackened chicken Caesar salad for the first time and thought it was fab.

You have got to be kidding -- I had them on the 10th and they were fine! DRAT!!!!:scared1:

We just had the Pommes Frites on Friday and while I did notice that they were a little more soggy than usual, I still thoroughly enjoyed them! :goodvibes DH took pictures of the food, but we just returned yesterday so will try and get a trip report done in the next few days.

We were just there on Thursday! I'm a little heartbroken. :(

Maybe the fryer temperature was a bit off or some other weirdness. As I looked around the tables, though, nobody was finishing their basket of fries.

I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions. They still had the garlic and parmesan sprinkling on them, but I just couldn't get over the soggy texture.

Perhaps I'm a bit of a fry snob.

We just got back last night and we had pomme frittes while we were there. They seemed to be just as delicious as ever. You must have gotten a bad batch! Darn.

First the waffle fries at Taste Pilot's, now the pommes frites at Cafe' Orleans.

The pommes frites were one of my favorite foods at the Park.

Probably, I bet the oil needed to be changed too. Or human error, not waiting long enough between batches for the temperature to come up, trying to fry too large of a batch. Were there a lot of people around you that ordered the fries at about the same time?

I think almost everybody had a basket of fries on their table, though nobody had eaten more than half the basket.

Did you have them while you were there? I honestly thought ours were fine, I barely noticed a difference. :confused3

I did have them! We have them all the time and they tasted the same as usual so I'm wondering when they made this change..?

Here's a pic of our fries from Friday:

I have to admit something.. i've never had anything to eat from the park, but man... THOSE FRIES LOOK GOOD! Might have to go to it, where is it at by the way? >.>

I've had the pomme frites twice now, last week and then 6 months ago. Neither time were the fries anything to write home about. But the combo of the parm cheese, garlic and the sauce is just fantabulous!
On the other hand, I had the blackened chicken ceasar on my bday and actually sent the salad back because the dressing was so horrible. May as well have been water on my salad. They very graciously gave me asparagus and a few red potatos instead and it was a lovely meal with the blackened chicken. I was so sad, because I love a good ceasar!

Cafe Orleans :)

I don't think that's the norm -- DH always orders that when we go and it's been good when he gets it. I just posted a pic of it in the food porn thread as a matter of fact.

We have these twice a month and have not seen any change since we first had them last december. They are tasty but not the most spectacular fry around. I still enjoy them and think they are unique twist on fries. That sauce is super yummy!! Also, we never finish our basket no matter how good they are. We have to save room for our entree. :) I'm sure other people do the same.

Do you need a ADR/PS for Cafe Orleans? Or is this a counter service location? Thanks! :confused3

It's table service and PS is recommended.

My friend and I split a MC and pommes frittes when we were there in March. We couldn't finish the fries. I don't get them very often 'cuz the kid won't eat them and I certainly don't want to eat the whole basket by myself. lol

My DH and I had the fries on Saturday for the first time and they were thin, crispy and delicious. The only reason we didn't finish ours was because we were so full of chili and Monte Cristo. Honestly, one basket is enough for two people - maybe three!
