If you take your laptop be aware that many Orlando numbers for ISP are now considered long distance. In the past most Orlando numbers were local but that is no longer true.

I had a half dozen Orlando numbers that I always used when in WDW for AOL. Just as a precaution I asked about them at check in. Good thing I did. The CM gave me the following 4 numbers (again these are for AOL) to use. She told me all other Orlando numbers are now long distance.
These are the numbers I was given.
407-210-4265
407-587-0028
407-587-0072
407-210-0234
Of these numbers only one 407-587-0028 was listed on AOL as a usable number.

Make sure you check with the front desk about your ISP numbers.

We are just recently back from Riverside AB and the Contemporary. Glad to answer any questions.

So these numbers are no longer good? Whew, good thing you posted. I used them in February, and don't bother to check them anymore. I would have had one heck of a phone bill.

From the (old) notes on Pop Century:

Q: What are some local internet dialup numbers that I could use? (Please note, although these numbers are local, you will incur a 75 cent per call access charge on your room)
AT&T Phone #
407-563-0080
407-563-9610

AOL Phone #
407-641-4265
407-641-4266
407-587-0072

MSN Phone #
407-648-1464
407-641-4676
407-541-0601

Bellsouth Phone #
407-896-7275
407-896-1919

Thanks for the info. I had been using 407-641-4266 for AOL, it was local in December.

The numbers that DMRick posted above (from the Pop Century FAQ) are still listed in the Pop Century cast information booklet as being local numbers.

If in doubt, my suggestion would be to ask for updated numbers upon check in. Dial the number, and then call the front desk immedietly afterward to find out if it was local or not.

Hopefully someone can advise us on whom to call to find out how much a call cost.

You should always find out how much something costs b43fore using it, and also whoever is providing the service must have someone who can tell how much the service costs. You should not have to make a call costing at least 75 cents first before asking whether it is local.

We have to wait ands ee whether the resort front desk gives up to date information and more importantly is willing to stand behind the information they do give, adjusting charges accordingly.

I would take several numbers and call the front desk and ask them if they are considered local.

Also you dial local and long distance differently so that usually will tell you if you dial a local and it tells you the call can't be completed as dialed.

thanks for posting this info. We always take a laptop and haven't checked the numbers in a while. Appreciate the heads up.

That's good to know. In our area, you can direct dial any number within the area code, even the long distance numbers. We have no way of knowing if it's long distance until our bill arrives.

I just checked AOL for all the numbers Vacationwoman listed and NONE of them are listed for AOL dial-up. Maybe I'm not doing something right on AOL as I've never used dial-up before. Has anyone had problems with this or does anyone have any other 407 numbers I can check?

Donna

I used the same old number I always used this past Feb and it was fine. I signed up once, did my stuff and got off quick. I called the front desk and they said it was just .75. So I used it the rest of the trip. It was one aol also showed when I was there..the 0080 number.
