Change in Covid Refund Policy for bookings made on or after December 9, 2022

Interesting. We booked last week so would still be under the old policy (unless they go by when it is paid in full?). The new policy seems more restrictive to me (positive covid test) vs the older policy (fever, exposure, covid symptoms, positive test).

Yes definitely more restrictive. Sometimes I do wonder if DCL reads these boards. People on here have been encouraging folks to lie about Covid exposure to cancel without fees and I’ve always wondered if/when Disney would clue in and start requiring an actual positive test.

I think they absolutely do read these boards.
They probably thought it was about time to tighten up the policies as we near 2023.

Yup. That was my thought exactly. I've seen people here and all over Facebook recommending the same and saying you don't need travel insurance because you can just claim exposure and cancel.

I wondered the same thing since the update came a day after a certain post.

It doesn't mention if you have to show proof of a monitored Covid test. Or are they just going to take your word for it you've tested positive?

I wouldn't be surprised if you had to show proof from a doctor administered test, not a home test. If they took people's word for it, it's not really any different than saying you had an exposure or were experiencing symptoms (or wanted to cancel and no insurance).

Eventually it will all go away and you’ll need to file a claim with you insurance company.
